Speeding Ticket Question I was driving on the new I355 extension. When i saw a cop on the right shoulder facing opposite me. I see him pull out and i slowed down to the speed limit which is 55mph and i am behind him for about a minute. I pass him doing the speed limit because i put my car on cruise control so that i would stay the speed limit. He follows me and then pulls me over. He asks for my license and insurance and he goes back to his car. He gives me the ticket and asks if i have any questions. I asked him if i could see the radar gun and he says no because i could get hit by a car a sue him. That is the first time they have not let me see the radar gun. I didn't see him using his radar gun and he wasn't even facing me. I went passed him doing the speed limit too. He told me he got me doing 80mph. I am pretty sure i was doing around 75 when i slowed down . I think he is bull shitting me and thinking i will just pay the ticket. Do you think that i should fight this? Sorry for the long post i just want to see what you guys think.
if he wont show you the gun get a lawyer and it is pretty much an automatic drop. i always tell my lawyer he didnt let me see the gun and i always get off it.(i never ask to see the gun either)
At least in Ohio they are required to show you the gun upon request, as proof of what they claim because of some cops who don't even measure your speed and just pull a number out of their butt.

ya i always ask to see the radar gun just to see what it shows. He said he couldn't because i could get hit by a car and sue. he said people are sue happy. I guess now i know if they let me see it and i get hit i can sue them.

I'd always afraid of crap happening to me like getting out to see a number on a radar gun, being slammed into the squad car and an officer saying that I was trying to run away or something! Than him throwing a "2nd"gun (a planter) down around me saying the weapon fell out of my pocket.

I talked to a lawyer and he told me that i should go to traffic school so that it doesnt go on my record. He said that when he was infront of me he was probably running my plates to see who he was dealing with. Stupid front plates. Just so everyone know this was not in my camaro it was in my grand cherokee. I have put the camaro away for the winter. So i have to pay 135 he said that the radar gun can get me from really far away.

ya i was speeding but to me i wasnt speeding. If i was in my car he would have caught me doing over 100mph easily. to me that is speeding. if i am cruising on the highway minding my own business then im not speeding because im not weaving in and out of traffic.
