Info 799 heads!
#5
I dont think so cause 799's were used on Ls2's and in some cases C6's and TBSS's had 243's and 799's. sometimes one 799 on the left and 243's on the right!
my brother has an 07 tahoe 5.3 with 799's!!!
and he's the one giving them to me.
thanks TOPFUEL, anyone else?

Do a quick search on performancetrucks.net, they might have something on there. I believe they are the ones that came on the higher output 5.3's with the aluminum blocks. They should be smaller chamber (like an older 5.3 head) but with LS6 ports.

They are the same as the 243's. In some of the 2007 Corvette's they switched from 243's to 799's. It is the same castings but were stamped with 799's because they are from Mexico some believe. I'm not sure about that but some have reported seeing one 243 on the left and a 799 on the right or vice versa. Hence the quote, "It pulls harder to the left!" GM wouldn't put mismatched parts on a Corvette or TB so, same as the 243 but different number.
I'm guessing with your mods, you'll pick up about 20 horses. Mill the heads and pick up 5 more horses.

"243 vs. 799 heads talked to GM research tonight.
I talked to Bob (Gohard777) and Mr. X. There is no difference between the two heads. The numbers tell what original mold the casting came from. 243 mold was done at GM Research, the 799 mold is used by other vendors. The same vendor will have 243 and 799 molds. The numbers are just a GM system for when the mold was made. If a head had a problem it helps them track down where the problem started. The only difference between the heads is production variance. Case closed. Thanks to Bob and Mr. X. Mr. X machined the first 243 heads himself at GM Research."
Kinda like how Patriot Performance takes a 035 Raw Head and turns it into a 243 head.
