Default selecting tires

alright so i'm stuck in a pickle looking for a solution. so right now i'm running a sumi tumo tires on my car. 17 x 9 up front(255/45) and 17 x 10.5 out back(315/35) i want to buy dr's for my stock wheels (16's) and run those whenever BUT i could probably use new tires on my 10.5's. so i dunno if i should by the dr's next friday before i go to the track or just run a new set of 315's and hope for a good 60ft. i'm afraid to go with a 315 dr on my stock rear end plus its my summer daily driver and i do happen to drive it in the rain when need be. someone help me make up my mind lol. i think i'm gonna just get the new 315's but i'd really like dr's. maybe they can wait. my tires are almost down to the wear bars now...

The stock rear isn't going to notice much of a difference between a 16" DR on your stockers and a 315 DR on your current wheels. Are you an M6 or A4? What are your mods?

Some DR's will work on wet roads, some not so much. Even the ones that work on wet roads are dangerous in heavy rain. Due to the lack of tread depth, they are prone to hydroplaning. I just had this discussion on another forum and there were quite a few people chiming in that had wrecked or nearly wrecked their cars running a DR in the rain.

I wouldn't run a DR at the track with an M6 unless you're prepared to possibly break the stock rear (not as likely with an A4). Have you ever ran at the track before? If the track prep is good, it will even make regular radials hook alright. Better than on the street at least.

i've been to the track twice and the traction sucked lol. it was worse there then on the street. i wasn't planning on going too agressive. just some nitto 555r's my buddy runs them and doesn't have a problem with them. i wouldn't be launching over 3k anyways.

If your that worried about it run the nitto DR's. They helped a bit for traction but not a whole lot. I daily drive them. They do see rain and its not that bad. Noone can tell you when your rear end is going to go.

Yup. Those are the ones. You can get them off ebay for 286 shipped to your door.

Good luck finding them now. They're on national backorder.

buy a slick for the stock wheels and a radial tire for the 17's. Unless you plan on driving on the stock wheels, then go with one of the drag radials mentioned.
