I'll give you a call Monday about renting that tool. I'm guessing you can get or know where to get at the bigger diameter bolt in sufficient grade?

Thanks for your help, hopefully I can fix it this way. The effort/benefit ratio on a motor I only wanted to last the next 8-12 months fades quickly.

To the people talking about easy outs. I'm 99% sure the threads were cut wrong on the GM bolt. I don't think an easy out will do it, and will probably just break in the bolt, and then I have REALLY hard parts to try and drill.
It will be right, and the size of the bolt(3/4-10) is plenty enough to hold your balancer in place.

Kooks are 1 3/4 I assume? Get the biggest tranny cooler you can get and DO NOT use synthetic tranny fluid. SHould be a fun car!
Joe wants me to use the RHS heads, and said that these are better than ported LS6 heads with the RHS heads unported. Yes, I have the Kooks 1 3/4" headers. Also, I don't really know anything about motor stuff cuz this is my first car that I'll be doing motor stuff too.

You could always weld a smaller bolt to the broken end and with the heat of the weld it should help you back it out... Ive seen it done it works and then use a arp bolt. This way you have no chance of screwing up the threads drilling and tapping Plus you reuse a factory bolt not some sbc stuff..

Joe,

I looked through my toolset in the garage, and I actually have 3/4" taps.

I can take care of it, now that I'm not soo pissed at the bolt to think straight.

I do owe you a 6 pack or something, since it's your idea and all. What's your beer of choice, I'll drop you some off.

NVader, I'll get over there this week and grab that stuff. I may plumb up the rest of that kit with a 50 shot to juice up the turbo.

PM me your address (I remember mostly where you live, but not completely) and when a good time to stop by is. Thanks for keeping it warm. LOL.

Did you ever get it out? Hope so cause that would suck. Some people weld a nut onto broken bolts and studs and have been able to get them out.
