Question 1:

Can anyone run a Carfax here?

Question 2:

I'm going to look at a car in Chicago if the carfax is clean, i asked the dealer what type of payment do they take. They said certified check was an option, so I could pay by certified check, and they give me bill of sale. Once check clears in 2-3 days, they UPS the title to me. Is that how it rolls now-a-days? They said the title is free and clear but they just need to protect themselves from certified check fraud.

I've never dealt with a dealer before, so this is all new to me. I tried to call Kenny but it just stopped ringing and the call ended. So I may have woken him up. Sorry Ken!!

I thought money orders/certified checks are basically the same thing? I was told they were "near-cash equivalents"

Not that I'm aware of...

Money order is as good as cash, certified/cashiers checks still has to be approved/cleared.

I got a money order for $10k for the civic, walked into the bank and it instantly cleared, I walked out with cash. Did the same deal for a certified check I got when I sold my Taurus for $2500, 10 business days later I had my money
