ATLEAST a year and a half for e4. I made E3 the first time in Oct. 2007, made E4 in Feb 2008, switched branches and now im an E3 again because my paperwork is fubard and S1 is lazy as ****! Oh well, I'll get a good amount in back pay after my 1st Sgt goes down there with me to get my **** straightened out.

^^^Man you guys are getting screwed over. I've been a Marine for 3 years now, and I got promoted to Corporal in 14 months in the service. I know this isnt a pissing contest, but I hate how some SNCO's really have it out for their young Marines....not all, just some.

Dude, alot of boots suck. Someone told them they rate. They dont. They go on one deployment and they are "hardcore combat vets" with no C.A.R. I have some of those guys in my Plt. and you bet your *** they do every **** job and get non-recd every month. I'm tired of retards and that kids GySgt. is too.

Promotion in most MOS's in the Marine Corps are a little slower than others. I went to school with some Navy and Army guys. The soldiers come into the school as E-4s, which is unheard of if you're a Marine coming from SOI. The Navy guys were getting promoted to PO3 upon graduation. It just dosn't really happen like that in the Corps, unless you can spell "Meritorious".

Lol and I agree with you on that one man. I'm so sick of these guys coming back acting like hard-asses just cause the saw some combat. Every unit has their Sierra Bravo, some more than others. I DO however commend the SNCO's who ride their dumbass boots like it's cool, in hopes that maybe this kid will pull his head out of his *** instead of walking around corrupting other boots because they suck. Just my $.02.
go get a real badge and get ur CIB and join the infantry dotn act badass and be a cook.

Lol everyone in the Marine Corps does the job they do for a reason. Some are just confused...lol That's why I'm going to CI.

mortars shouldnt even count...... thats indirectfire, im a 11c, and i wouldnt accept my CIB untill i got into a firefight. and now im so tired of POG's comming up to me and saying "ive seen combat too, see my CAB?" that i dont even wear my CIB. its become all about points its no longer about honor

When we do our field problems and actually train we roll out 5-10 miles from the North Korean border and are out there for usually 2wks at a time.
