Army guys, how many men in your unit score 300 or above on PT test?
I am trying to figure out how I am stacking up right now. Last pt test I took I scored 309. I am Army ROTC at Auburn and just wondering what the most of yall and your units score.
Thanks Chris

I retired in 1999. Back then, the Army was toying around with an 'Ironman score' , but, you couldn't score over 300. That was the max. Now, there's differenet criteria to score higher. I always scored between 290-300. That was roughly around 65 situps and around 60 pushups ... running the 2-miler in the 13's.
There weren't very many who scored 300 ... maybe 5-8% of my unit. Not sure, but, I believe the criteria was harder then ... not sure.

Thanks guys... Jeb what was the age group you are talking about with those scores? For the 17-21 group its 71 pushups, 78 situps and a 13:00 2 Mile.
Thanks Petraszewsky, thats what I was really looking for, what the infantry units score is.

honestly it depends a lot on what kind of unit you go to or are talking about. i know here are bragg in BCT's 1-4 your dick is measured on how fast or far you can run. they pt the **** out of you. but i re-classed and am now in a flight company and we fligh so much and have to get crew rest that we dont do pt, its all on you. we are a small company, but only like 3 of us can max or probably get over a 270 at that.

Thats the entire army in general. You can be a shitbag at your job but if you can run youre a golden boy. Pretty ******* stupid, the army is always *** backwards. I used to run sub 11 minute 2 miles too but I actually was competent in my job as well. Way too many get over at work based on run times.

if you go to a regular non infantry unit, your score will be more than good enough. its good to know that you max your pt test. now as a future leader, you need to learn how to find a way to make your future Soldiers studs like you.

If you are going to be an infantry officer than you might want to try to MAX MAX out your PT tests. Get the highest you can possibly get every time.
My old unit there was about 15-20% that got 300 (just for ***** and giggles they used the extended scale to see what you would of got) or higher. It all depends on the unit you go to. Our standard was 5 mile run under 30 mins (I think that is what it was), 8 mile road march (totally geared up with weapon or aid bag) in 2.5 hours that was done at least once a week, 12 mile road march every month and a 20 mile road march every 3 months.

Thats the standard that they want you to be under. If you didnt make it then it was just a "well try harder next time" type of thing. It was put in while Col. Steele was our BC.
Also, it was under 30 mins BTW. Been a while since I had to do it. Just because its not in the FM doesnt mean its horse crap. A unit can set its own standards.

I know a unit can set it's own standards, but 5 minute miles (which is what we were discussing at the time) is leagues beyond retard to set as a standard. A goal? Ok, still pretty far out there, but a goal is what you strive for. A standard? That's ridiculous. There are large number of career runners that don't break 5 minute miles, and that's what they do as their job. Unless you guys didn't accomplish much in the way of work during the day, it was a ridiculous standard.
But, continuous 6 minute miles is a bit more realistic.

Its been almost 3 years since I had to do it. I did it twice and both times I came in at 35ish minutes. Its a damn gutwrencher for sure.
