The reflective belt (PT belt) is truly stupid especially when wearing a fully reflective pt uniform. A case could be made for wearing them during a ruck march or in non-pt uniforms.
I'd like to say it should be up to natural selection and dependent on people's common sense. They should have the ability to look both ways, realize that a 4,000 to 80,000 vehicle moving at road speeds would hurt or kill them, and wait till it is safe to cross the street.
I'd like to say that.
Problems are not everyone has that common sense and even among those that do people make mistakes. Combine that with the fact that we are all military property. Harsh way to put it but the fact is the military has a great deal of time and money invested in us so we can do a job...or sit around waiting to do a job. It's protecting property and investments.
