Anyone in Vegas? Hey guys. I just got my assignment. I get my wings in 2 weeks and am being sent to fly RPA's at Creech (not my first choice but it's alright). Just seeing if there was anyone in the area with knowledge of a good community to start shopping for houses?

avoid the pig farm, if you have a family i'd consider base housing. many of my friends have summer time power bills of $400(that's keeping the house around 80 degrees).
the apartments immediately around the base are high crime areas.

Lots of houses up for rent though all over Vegas. Power bill is no joke in the summer, My sisters runs about the as said $400 per mo June - Sept Base housing is the best bet. North West Vegas- West of Craig road, So of Rancho and No. of Losee out towards the Alleiante hotel is pretty nice. Good luck

If you'll be at Creech I'd look out in my area, the extreme NW part of town...like I-95 and Durango (89131 area code), or anywhere along the nw part of the 215. Shoot me a pm if you have any questions or etc.

Me and a few other FAIPs went to Nellis and Creech for "career broadening" last month. The ride from Vegas to Creech SUCKS. It's a good 45 minutes from the outskirts to the front gate. My advice would be to live as far NW as you can to diminish the kick in the nuts you'll receive every morning.
As far the base itself, it's extremely small (smaller than your UPT base). They just opened a Subway that supposedly has a 30 minute wait every day because it's the only thing to eat in the entire town. Pretty much everything on base is new though, so it doesn't look that bad. Plus, they're doing one hell of a mission every day so there's a high feeling of job satisfaction out there. Good luck man.

I didn't know bases got smaller than UPT locations. I'm heading from Columbus. That sounds just like the wait at our subway so that won't be too much of a shock and is a motivation to bring my lunch. Did you happen to see the gym or anything? How long have you been doing the FAIP thing?
My drop was last Nov, went to PIT in Jan, got back to Laughlin in June, and have been on the line since July.

So what gives theres a lot of people posting on this but yet I've never seen any of u at meet ups. I have however seen a lot of f bodies on base and by the way u all are talking you're all Officers. Guess I'm the only enlisted with an f body. I say we Nellis and TDY guys get together do what we all do best (drink beers) and bullshit about cars. Hell I've seen enough f bodies on base that we could start our own club.
