Fort stewart
I'm PCS'ing to Stewart in October, got some questions for people who have been there or are there now. I hear it pretty much sucks there. What is there to do in that area? Any outdoor crap to do? And do they have safety and emissions inspections? Anything else I should know?
Thanks

The post itself sucks but the area rocks. 30 mins to savannah. 1hr to hilton head island. 2 hrs top jacksonville, 3 to daytona beach, 4 to orlando and atlanta. A lot to do. There are no drags strips close but there is a place for track days in savannah. Big bike scene. Ok car scene. What's your MOS?
I was there from 98 to 2009 and report back in 2012

Its not too bad. Like lots of other places I've been to, it is what you make of it. Hinesville is kind of boring as is Richmond Hill, but Savannah is close by.
No drag strips like at Bragg. I dont love it, but I can definitely tolerate it. There's a couple of speed shops not too far away, and everything I order from summit arrives the next day or the day after via UPS ground

Yeah I am definitely glad about having to ship stuff there as opposed to Hawaii. How about safety inspections any of those or emissions checks? Both my cars don't have cats so just need to know about all that. Thanks for the info. Oh I am a 31b so fun police.

Yeah we relieved you guys at Normandy. All I know is the uic which is wjbbaa or it may be two j's and one b don't have it in front of me right now. I think it's the 546th. I'm hoping they are a line unit. Been garrison way too long.

nice. i work with SSG Williams here at FT Wood. 546th is a line unit, but the battalion is the 385th. csm will decide which company you go too. even if your orders say 546th.

I may be joining you guys about this time next year. Ft. Stew is on the short list of places I can get stationed. There's only 18 places I can go with 14 in the CONUS and the other 4 OCONUS other than deployments of course.
