Camp Pendleton California?
Anyone on here stationed out there? I picked orders today doing intel for 1st MLG HQ, just wondering how the scene is out there, I recently sold my trans am and bought an srt4 though... probably going to get back into the fbody scene with a ls1 t/a or camaro soon though.

It's been 2 years since I was station in San Diego, I was at the Naval Base. Camp Pendleton is about 20 miles north from the Navy Base. There are some car clubs out there that you can talk too. If your into some 1/8 mile drag, or the auto cross look into The "Q" which they get together about twice a month. Here is the site http://racelegal.com/ and it will give more info. Also there are car shows just about every weekend. I miss San Diego for the car scene, but be ready to be rap for every smog legal issue. Check with Camp Pendleton. I remember on the Navy Base they had cars with out of state plates get CA. smog check before they issue you base stickers.
Good luck Devil Dog.

I was stationed in Pendleton and really enjoyed it. Cali has really strict laws pertaining to cars. If you have ANY modifications to the exhaust, then it's illegal. I got a ticket in my mustang for having modified exhaust.

It's going to be a fix it ticket, unless you can prove some paper work that will show CARB Executive Order, Sate of California Air Resources Board which you have to get from the the company that sells that product. As for the modified exhaust the smog test has nothing to do with nosie level unless you have a different manifold.

is there anywhere to get the smog test where they don't visually inspect it? because I have a catch can and a wastegate and intercooler piping, an aem intake idk if all of those will pass,

I just left there today ('06-'11), and I'm my way to my next duty station. When I had my T/A throughout my time there, getting smog checked got worse every year. I've had to replace my cats almost every year... It was a real pita. Even came down to my k&n failing me because of no carb sticker. All I have to say is document everything done to your car, and locate the matching carb #... And if you head up north on the 5, check out eastbound Ortega highway. Great twisties and views to Lake Elsinore.
