Kadena AFB anyone?
I'm headed out that way in a few weeks and just wanted to see if anyone was out there already and what are some of the things I should check out while I'm there. I'll be there for four months.

Cars and motorcycles mostly. I have been known to get a little crazy on det from time to time (partying), but not so much now that I'm a little older. I'd actually like to try and see some sites in Okinawa.

Oh man, I was there for six years with the 44th FS (Go Bats!) from 94-00 and I would go back in a heart beat. Snorkling, WWII tours, glass bottom boat rides and Okuma were the ****! You'll have a good time for sure. I want to go back just to get my private pilots license with the aero club. The only thing that sucked while I was there is when that 14 yr girl got raped they put a curfew on gate 2 street so I really never got to experience the whole bar thing out there. The golf course is sweet too! Have fun!

sry, just saw this post
i was at kadena for 2 years - from march 03 - march 05. *lots* of stuff to do, but also kinda heavy in the pockets. cost me almost $7 to get a d*mn happy meal at mcdonalds, but the service is absolutely outstanding! if u remember, go to CoCo's (curry-style restaurant) they have AWESOME curry there. theres speculation of whether or not they put crack in it coz its so dam addictive.
snorkeling/diving is amazing - just do it when u can, since it rains pretty often.
gate 2 street - haha, well...not gonna say 'stay away" from it, since that usually brings more people to go to it. just...be mindful how much money ur spending. go to the atm at the USO, draw a specific amount of money, an go out with that...dont keep comin back bro....*trust* me..u'll regret it. them juicy girls gotta way to get in ur pockets if u dont watch 'em. "buy me drink" goes a loooong way when ur intoxicated.
just a few helpful tips to get ya started. but dont let the usual criticism of "there aint nothn to do but get drunk here" get to u. theres *plenty* to do. ended up meetin mah girl from there

Good thing I'm not a AF dude or a Marine.
Also, thanks for the advise, camaroguy_02, but I have been in the military for about 9 years (E-6) and been on deployment a time or two. I was just looking for specific things to do not motherly advise. I know your heart was in the right place though.
Again...thanks, everybody.
