I need a job! Anyone want to help out?
So I am getting out of the Marines after 5 long years. I am getting out in July and I have been putting my resume out there and been looking around. I am an Aviation Electrician. I basically test various electronic systems throughout the AV8B Harrier. I am in Yuma, Arizona right now and would like to maybe stay around Arizona if I could, but for the right job I would relocate. Anyone have anything or know of anything that I could apply for? Thanks for the help.

These guys are in tempe, they refurbish avionice or have them refurbished for resale to airlines that need them.
My friend works there, let me know if you would like his e-mail if you are interested.
What degrees do you have if any?

are you involved in the marines for life program?
if not i would get involved. it is a program setup to get jobs for marines that are getting out.
employers want to hire marines and they have monthly meetings that are great for networking and finding a job.
im sure you can find the website for the program via google

Our company loves to hire former servicemen/women We've got at least 10 former marines, air force, army, navy, in my area alone
If you're interested www.ge.com, submit your resume electronically for them to look at you for whatever, or look at the jobs list and apply for specific one(s)

If you want to still work on harriers check out NADEP at Cherry Point NC as a civilian contractor. I have a buddy that just got out as an AVI TECH on the 130's and he's starting at 19.00 here at NADEP pretty much doing his same job with alot more money.

Either work as a civilian contractor with the military or you could look up local Air charter companies to see if they have any avionics shops. The place my wife works at has it's own Avionics shop but we're in California in the central valley.

i cant speak for you cause i dont know your situation, but i can say this. make sure you REALLY want to get out. i talk to all of my marines before they get out. sometimes it ends up being for a reason they hadn't really thought through. just be sure, devil.
as far as work, blackwater and wolfpack are hiring servicemembers for contract work. also, have you tried the various airlines' websites? they may be helpful.

See if you can get either part of the Airframe or Powerplant license based on your MOS http://www.carolina-aero.com/airframe/Branches.htm If you want to stay with that type of work I would suggest Boeing or Dyncorp

If you like avionics you can work for a avionics repair shop. You don't need your A&P and good pay.
