At least you will on average be in the desert for a shorter period of time per rotation.

For one you will goto bootcamp again, SOI/MCT, and then if MCT your MOS school after that too. Also, you will probably only be an E-3 then (LCpl) upon graduation of bootcamp(instead of currently being a sergeant).. I am not positive on this but maybe someone else can chime in?

Not to mention you are gonna get a lot of **** for it, but only in jesting.

You will start out a PVT or maybe PFC out of boot camp, HOWEVER in the Marine Corps promotion system you get points for time in service in which your Army time will count. So with that being said... as soon as you are eligible for CPL, you will be way ahead of your peers (if you aren't a total bag of ***). And don't worry about being prior Army...most of us would see you as a fellow Marine....not a former soldier.

it's all about what you want, we had a guy when i was a Lcpl, he was an e-5 in the Navy, and he jumped ship. it took him about 4 years to get back to e-5. you'll probably come in as a PFC (E-2). as said above, as long as you can PT, and you're not a shitbag, you'll probably get LCPL outta bootcamp. then depending on your school, and if you want to keep your MOS, etc... i.e. Army MPs and Marine MPs go to the same school, you could pick up Cpl out of Mos school.

You have to be a Lcpl for 9 months to be eligible for Cpl. After you get to the fleet, if you're still **** hot, you can go on Meritorious boards for Sgt. so theoretically, you could pick up Sgt in about 2 yrs or so... being you're not a **** bag.

just think, you'll be the only PFC in the platoon with a chest full of ribbons, and a hash mark.

Yeah,I guess you'd get a large ration of **** going from Army to MC. They love to talk **** on the Army as it is. But WTF,it'd be an experience-and-half.

If you are already a Sgt. then stay in the Army. If you join the Marine Corps then you will be a PFC and have to work your way up again

they won't give you too much **** for being army, unless you're fucked up. we had a guy in boot camp that was prior army. they gave him platoon guide, but he was a brick, so they demoted him to squad leader. i think you'll do fine. you'll keep the hash mark, and some of your army ribbions. how close are you to SSGT? and i know you're 1 rank down, but how long before you pin on?
