I've passed through on my way to Balad. Talk about crappy weather. Why even take a shower, just to sweat walking out?

I was there during the summer of 2005 for AEF 6. That place was a summer camp, IMO. For a deployed location, it has great living conditions and alot of stuff to do off duty. When I was there, they issued us beer cards so we could drink 3 beers a day! Oh, you don't have to worry about mortars etc. as much as other AOR bases. The base never got attacked when I was there,

I was there last winter. It was like a summer camp to me. I wouldn't mind going back to that place.

Yeah, place is definately "the cakewalk". I went way back in dec 03 - mar. weather was nice, if your on night shift that desert gets pretty cold though. Hell back then we even were able to go off base down to doha... although i think that they put a stop to that after that brit got his car bombed down there in the city. City is pretty westernized too the guy that was authorized to drive down there would always stop at the Arbys and bring back like 15 beef&cheddars... lol.

Have fun
