yeah, its not so bad, i went to boot in feb of 05 came out as a pvt and made cpl in a year and 8 months so keep your head on straight and dont be a sh!tbag, try to enjoy your time in, my only advice for bootcamp is try to get a hold of a "knowledge" and learn as much as you can from it so you'll be a step ahead , get good at pull ups and move as fast and efficiently as you can, and dont be scared, they dont hit you...that hard and the whole recon thing, my good buddy just got done with RIP and is going to ARS. its no walk in the park, i hope you like swimming and getting thrashed, and running with sandbags in your pack.

I may have to find out where this guy went to and wear him out during the swim qual since I will be there about that time. Anyone else reading this for info before going just keep in mind it's a job, nothing else. I went in at 21 also halfway through Junior year of college. I was a spring guy (March) but knew the deal. Their job is to yell at you, belittle and break you down to build you up. Your job is to take it, get stronger, learn and become a better person. It works, and has for years.

recon, huh?
It kills me when these kids come to boot camp and they tell me that their recon. You know the last kid who came here and told me that was about 5 foot nothing, weighed about 130 pounds and could barely pass the PFT! Needless to say he didnt make it.

SSgt Livingston drives a black mustang, one day mid 3rd phase on of the recruits said "nice car sir". we spent the rest of the day on his quarterdeck.

Just got done with boot camp on the 19th. Thing that sucks is there will always be that "one" as the DI's say, and youll be paying for him a lot. Only other thing is it was kinda cold during field week at pendelton. Import slayer, does your trans am have torque thrust II's on it?

yeah do all that that everyone is saying..... dont eyeball the D I's ,stay motivated , sound out loud, ...hell thats all i did when i joined in 2004 , i went to san diego, mcrd, echo Company pltn 2033 , enlisted as an 0311 infantry rifleman, stayed motivated until the day i got my orders from SOI ITB to go to the worst place to be stationed at and that is 29 palms,Ca ..the Stumps... here w 3/7 deployed to AR Ramadi,Iraq in sept 2005 , came back in APR 2006 ,now getting ready to go back in April 2006 to the same spot, Rank of CPL E-4, as far as recon goes youre going to have tryouts i SOI, you might not make it or you might it all depends on your fit and motivation to do that, in my opinion RECON aint all that and a bag of chips ,i chose to stay 0311 rifleman better expierence in IRAQ thats why, as far as boot camp goes , pay attention to detail youll hear that alot and try to be a squad leader or guide, youll pick up rank meritorious and get more $$ out of boot camp youll get 10 days leave then go to SOI for 2 months graduate , hit the Fleet and be a BOOT!! hahaha LOL ,oh yeah one more thing .....try not to get sent to 29 palms,Ca your motivation goes downhill here..... freaking Recruit/Boot
