No you dont have to pay it back. Work the system all you can but stay within the laws.

AR 601-280, Chap 5 Para 13 b 2 c

c. Recoupment of an unearned bonus is not required if the soldier is separated to permit acceptance of a commission or warrant appointment or to enter a program leading to a commission or warrant appointment. Entitlement to additional unpaid bonus is suspended and will terminate upon commissioning or appointment. However, the entitlement to additional unpaid bonus will be reinstated and paid on a pro rata basis if the soldier is not commissioned or appointed and returns to enlisted status in the same bonus MOS.

What that means is that whatever you were already paid you get to keep and will not be recouped from you but any bonus that you havent been paid yet you will lose.

You will incur a ADSO (active duty service obligation) of six years once you become a Warrant. If legislation goes through and from the looks of it it will be extended to a 10 year ADSO for Warrants.

I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for you . But I have heard it is alot like band camp, since a few soldiers over the years complained it was too challenging . Go figure

WOC's was a joke, but so was the rest of my army training except sere, and flight school.

I went through in March of 06 just as they were getting rid of square meals, and all the other traditional stuff. 40% washout rate when my dad went through, when I went through it was less than 1%. Be ready for a lot of sitting around waiting. They are also reducing the number of warrants they want to produce 08 and on. Hardest part was getting my packet approved, and the sitting around waiting.

Good luck, feel free to ask any questions.

Oh and the ADSO Resets every time you graduate a school, until you head to your unit. My 6 year commitment will end up being almost 9. Or so I was told.

Not true, your initial 6 year ADSO is fixed and starts the day you pin on your wings, or finish nights if your an AQC guy. Other schools such as IP, MTP, Saftey, TACOP's are all a concurrent 1 year ADSO, same with taking W3.

I went through WOCS in 04 and there were no square meals or any of that and from what I hear they have made it easier, there is no more rolling socks, T-shirt or any of that, and no more command inspection. What they do there now I have no idea, but you won't learn **** in WOCS, at least no one in my class did. And the wash out rate was non-existent.

Flight school on the other hand........

Hello, I graduated back in Dec of '07, WOCS really isnt that hard, but you will definatly graduate there proud. I see it on every guys/gals face who comes through here after they graduate ( walking around on grad day with there chest all stuck out, looking just as green as ever). I think it is somthing to very proud of and it kind of offends me when warrants knock the school.

If you went through when I did you would be offended that the Army wasted your time like they did

Have fun in flight school, the fun has just begun
