This is in no way meant to take offense of those serving in the other branches as you are all detrementally important as well. And my hat goes off to all of you, especially our ground pounders in the Army and Marines. It's just not anything I could ever do as I was meant to do the job of a aviator, and I know life in the Air Force is very cush compared to the hard lives all the other services have.

I think the guy is just a knuckle head, happened to have the whistle in his right hand. So he freaked out, and saluted with his left hand. I could be wrong, but I thought the only person in the United states military that was allowed to Salute with his left hand was the Drum Major for the Army Fife and Drum Corps (I think they have a more official name, but it escapes me right now), due all his manual for the mace was with his right hand. The first time I saw that, I was very boot and made a crack about it, till someone set me straight, and I felt a little foolish.
If one of the Navy guys knows anything about thier ceremonies that allows him to do this, please tell me, I would be interested to hear it. But I am betting on the guy being a knuckle head.

that is true... mostly. I was just saying that that one guy can do it with his left hand... the Marines, Army and Navy do it that way. It is just a special thing for that one guy in the fife and drum corps...

IIRC AFTimes was saying that the mandarin style collar was in the running for the new dress blue but I think they decided to go with something WWII-esque. I could be wrong though. I think the mandarin collar+silver piping/accent (like our Honor Guard) would be a winning combo. Our gals look like librarians

I do think the army beret makes the uniform look like crap...unless its green

Oorah! Marine Corps Blues definitally the best. I agree that the dress whites look sharp, but I like my blues, walk around your local places and people look at you and and admire you, doesnt even matter if you are fugly haha. like one of my DIs said "You could put Steve Eerkel in a set of dress blues, and he would get a **** load of *****."
