I wouldnt skip over USAA just because they dont have a branch near you. What specifically do you need a physical branch for these days?? Everything you need done can almost be done by internet except for depositing straight cash.
depositing cash is a big one for me. With NFCU I dont have a branch very close by, so i have been to 4 different places tonight trying to deposit cash so i can buy my freaking exhaust and if i had a branch close by, i could swing by during the day, but i cant be gone for hours just to goto the bank i have a BoA less than 2 mins away

Other than that, theyre great from what I hear. NFCU is what I got in bootcamp, and GEICO gave me cheaper car insurance rates. I now use Bank of America Military bank, but am getting rid of them very soon ( I do not recommend them at all...)

I'm here in San Antonio, TX and we have the USAA Headquarters here and if I needed to go punch someone in the head there then I could.

Navy Federal Credit Union! I separated in '02 and still bank with them. It's the only place I get loans for anything except my mortgage.

I have a wal mart right next door to me, so i'll go there spend $.46 on a money order, then send it in to USAA if i have cash i need to deposit. it's annoying sometimes, but then again, i only have a bunch of cash that i need to deposit maybe like once a month. so it really isn't that big of a deal.

USAA for the win, I doubt i'll ever use another bank again. everything is too easy with them, and they have kille rates. i got 6.5apr on 10k for 3 years for a used car.

I would say Navy Fed. I have had them since 02. And they have been a blessing since. I can honestly say I have not had a single problem with them at all. I do know alot of my Marines use USAA. I do my insurance and investing through them.
