the high way pic is real easy....all you have to do is put the camera on a tripod and shoot with the S setting on the D60 (shutter). Spin the dial so you see until you see the ring around the eagle eye is only on the bottom 1/4 or so. Then I use the timer button and put the 10 sec timer on so that initial shake doesnt show in the camera. The setting should keep the shutter open for a long time and as the cars pass you get that streak effect. Hope that helps

I didn't read anything from the first page, but I'll say this.

The only important thing in deciding between the two is two hold them in your hands and play with the buttons/wheels/interfaces. That's it. You can get great shots from either, and the Nikon vs Canon lens lineups are damn near identical.

The best tool is the one that fits your hand. That's all.

I did that and the feel of quality between the d90 and 50D was night and day so went with the 50D. I went a little order crazy as I previously stated

-Canon Eos 50D 15.1 MP Digital SLR camera
-Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens
-Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens
-Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens
-67mm 3 piece filter set
-72mm 3 piece filter set
-77mm 3 piece filter set
-cleaning kit
-extra battery
-scandisk extreme III 8gig card
-Case Logic SLRC-4 SLR Camera & Laptop Backpack

I got what i think is a steal everything for 2450.

I've the Canon EOS 30d and my friend used to have Nikon d200, and let me tell you whenever we go for photoshooting together, my photos were just much better than the Nikon, In quality, colors and it has lower Noise than the Nikon .the Nikon was better in sharpens (which you can do it in Photoshop), and the viewfinder of the Nikon was better also.
The funny thing is my friend sold his Nikon and bought a Canon 40d 8 months ago, he told me with his own words " Canon is better hands down, I'm not gonna buy a Nikon again".
Oh and he bought the New Canon 5d mark II today, I can't wait to test this camera.

I say go with Canon and don't look back, you can check some photos i took with my 30d if you can search for some of my threads.

Good luck

I guess this is a bit late but I havent been frequenting my Camaro boards all that much since I moved to Europe for a bit and left my Camaro back home.

I had a D40 but had a run in with Amy Winehouse's bodyguard this Christmas and they smashed my sensors and mirrors inside the body. I replaced it with a D90.

This morning I shot a photo of my Dad's R8. I couldnt be happier with the results. Absolutely love the camera. I contemplated the Canon but opted for the Nikon.

Here is the R8 photo

The biggest difference in quality is not the camera body, it's the lens. If you use a kit lens, then you're gonna have lower quality pictures than if you use a faster lens (like a f/1.4 or f/1.8).

edit:

If your dad has an R8, he's the man. That's a nice machine.

WELL, okay lets see.. For nikon i had a D80,D90 then went to D300 .. loved the 300.. but Nikon's lens selection killed it for me. But there sensors are crisp sharp and show color well!

I now reside with Canon.. I originally had the 50D, for some reason i didnt like it, sold it and bought a D40 and XSI body.. and a couple 2.8 lenses.. Canon dumdumdum .. The EF-S and L lenses are far superior to nikon ... MY .2

BTW.. Its not so much the camera and lense... Its all in the person taking the picture

Awesome pic man, and if I knew the camera was gone already, it'd be used to bash a ******* head in.

I'm in the market for my first DSLR, I know how to use em, just never owned one. I'm trying to decide on a Nikon D40 or D60. Someone please tell me otherwise or just help convince me on either one of those.

Thank you for the compliment.

The D40 is an entry DSLR. If you already have some experience I would move up to a higher model. I liked my D40 but always wished for something better. This was a good reason to upgrade.

anyone have any experience with the sony Alpha series? i was looking around at a cannon, but i found a great deal on a sony alpha and a 75-300mm for just over 620. So far it takes very good pictures, i can say im a little disapointed in the lens selection thus far though.

Nikon D60 is my first DSLR, and couldn't be happier. Next, a D300 or D700...
