Question Lifter tick? or what?

Ive been hearing this sound a little bit every now and then with my T/A but I just changed my oil today and it got way worse, I put in Royal Purple 10W-30 and its what ive used the past three times.

My car has 98K, im thinking its just lifter tick.

check to make sure no spark plugs are loose. I had one like that forever and didn't figure it out until it fell out! The ticking was afwul and I kept looking for some type of exhaust leak.

you ever add some lucas synthetic oil stabilizer i think thats what its called, but it helps with lifters and seals. Might wana do that next oil change add a quart of that into your oil and see if it helps.

You can hear it better when you rev it and when the RPM's are dropping.

Lifter probably. That happen to me at 150,000 miles. I was passing this car and I punched it. Next thing I knew whenever I slowed down from 130 mph I heard this tick tick tick. I came from the driver side valve cover. First thing that following Monday morning I took it to my speed shop along with my new assembled heads, cam, oil pump, water pump, push rods etc. EVERYTHING from the block up I needed except lifters. Well, turns out a lifter went bad ******* up push rod and digged my stock cam some awful groves in it. Replaced them with LS7 lifters.

Better to catch it now before it gets worse and more expensive. It could be something simple like a lifter now or something up top. Wait and see and it could get expensive...

If oil pressure is fine, run it.

My motor makes all sorts of noise.

I had good oil pressure with the bad lifter too. No SES light or anything. My car is a 2000 model too. The lifters and the push rods on these cars werent the greatest. I felt the same way when it happened. I was lucky had been collecting parts and everything except for the lifters. AND of course the $$$ to have it done plus the tune.
