I don't really consider a 12.8 to a 12.9 an *** whoopin'. Especially when the 12.9 has a 114hp less than the 12.8. Kinda sad for the GT500 really. With that said, both are bad *** cars and I would love to have either one. When talking about sticker price though, the Vette in the end would be a no brainer.

29ft margin. That's what the picture shows, regardless of what your eyes tell you. It's perspective, and with that picture the distance appears skewed.
29ft, 0.1 second, or barely 3 carlengths is laughable all things considered. Sure the GT500 is without question faster, but by that little? And with nearly an advertised 120HP difference!? You Ford boys can't throw around the weight issue anymore.
At that weight, 426HP and 13 flat is barely acceptable. 540HP and high 12s is a pathetic joke.

@110mph you are travelling at 161.33feet per second.
29feet / 161.33fps = .17 second
So it was closer to two tenths guys.

Also to all of the people noting the huge price difference, you don't just slap on a blower and make 550+rwhp on the Camaro. Other things will break which will result in more money being spent and the price gap closes. On the other hand the GT500 has a much stronger clutch, rear end, and motor so you can literally "slap" a bigger blower on it and if you did the suspension and tires correctly you'd run very low 10s (probably faster) and make 700 rwhp, all while not having to worry about breaking as much driveline stuff as you would in the 550 rhwp Camaro. See below link, although it doesn't show durability I'm sure it would be a lot better than the "cheaper" SS would be at that power level.

HAHAHAHA again I find myself saying "I told you so".
114hp more nets less than two carlengths? What the hell is with this car?!
No doubt the GT500 pulled out an undisputable win in that run, but with 114hp less, the Camaro should not have been able to hang on like it did. The SS not only beat the GT500 off the line, but the GT500 didn't start to take up ground until the halfway mark.
Bottom line - 540hp, 12.8sec 1/4 mile. For a 4400lb luxo super-sedan, that would be just a little dissappointing. For an all out high ticket muscle car, that's embarrassing. Ford needs to go back to the drawing board with this car...take that awesome engine with, but ditch the rest and start again.
I will say this though, this new redesign looks alot better in every way (except the fat rear), than the previous GT500. It's actually a very aggressive looking car now, so kudos to Ford on that.
