Kick ***! The manual grand sport gets a hand built ls3 with a forged crank and other small changes compared to the regular ls3 so It wil put out a little more hp. The grand sport ls3 in had built at gm's wixom plant along side the ls7 and ls9 which is pretty cool.

you mind sharing where you got that information from. To my knowledge, only the LS7 and LSA/LS9 motors are built in Wixom.

Here ya go watch this video from chevrolet. Fast forward to the end and he tells you about how the engine is hand built and has steel crank. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMkrep0pgjQ

Its a zo6 with a removable roof, A truly kick *** car. It has slightly less power then a zo6 out of the box but runs just as hard with some simple mods. Look at this video of a ls3 c6 with just a cam and headers. Like I said before this no need to spend the extra money for a zo6 or even zr1.

What do you mean by being just like a Z06? The LS7 of the Z06 kinda makes the Z06 what it is, so take that away from it, put a LS3 in it and that's a Grand Sport?

Well you have to figure the Z06 has a lot more than just the LS7 it has different brakes and suspension that the base corvette does not have not to mention larger fender wells and bigger wheels and tires and also some materials used in building the car are different. But from what i understand and maybe i am wrong the grandsport is kind of like a Z06 with an LS3 instead of an LS7

The grand sport is basically a z06 with a steel frame (instead of aluminum) and a hand built, dry sump ls3 in place of the ls7. It has the widebody, z06 brakes and sportier suspension (although not exactly the same as the z06).

I believe it adds around $6000 to the price of a base corvette which makes it a hell of a deal. It also retains the targa roof which is appealing to me.

Very cool! Never heard of them until now! Kinda curious as to the target audience for a down on power Z06 but it's definitely a cool car!

The power difference is nothing a couple simple mods cant fix. For instance look at the above video. Ls3 with just a cam and headers. 10.70 @ 131. A zo6 with a cam and headers would run roughly a 10.3x @ 134. Not a big enough difference to justify spending another 20k for the zo6 IMO.

Yeah I know what mods can do on any engine but Chevy doesn't sell a car without a target audience and in general they won't build a car hoping people mod it up to compete with another model. Cool car though!!

The GS's are going for almost as much as the z06's. A 4LT vette is over 60k alone.

GS's are not wideBODY's, they are wideBOOTY's, no front widebody, just in the rear. Nice cars though, but I'd rather buy an 08 coupe and put a widebody on it.
