2003 VW jetta TDI
237,000 miles
engine: 1.9ltr, 4 cyl., turbo direct injection diesel
trans: 5 speed
Observed mileage: 51mpg normal, as high as 53mpg
range: 810 miles (observed)
maint schedule: 10,000 miles oil and air filter clean (K&N)
oil used: Castrol Syntec 5W-30, with a WIX premium oil filter

Maint history and or problems:
90,000-miles new tires (original Good Year)

105,000- timing belt, water pump, and tensioner etc. and intake clean (full of soot from EGR) now with the low sulfer diesel fuel this is not a problem.

145,000- alt. pulley bearing went out, causing the pulley to fall off the shaft and throwing the belt, kinda cool I found out if you loose the accessory belt on these cars all you have to do is turn the radio off and pull the E-brake one click to turn the day time running lights off and you can literally drive around the world!!

150,000- tires, second set of Good Years wore out did not rotate as often (lazy) switched to American Platinum (Kelly off brand)
185,000- rear brakes pads and rotors replaced

210,000- timing belt, water pump, and tensioner etc.

Overall it has been a pretty good car and fairly inexpensive to make the minimal repairs that I've had to make, as long as you don't get your parts from VW! The added range is a nice bonus when you drive 800 miles plus a week, sometimes it just seems like a pain in the arss to stop and get gas!!

'03 Z71 silverado. Only thing done to it so far is appearance and audio stuff. Billet grilles, HID's(low/fog) and a Kenwood in dash Navi/DVD touchscreen. Has stock Bose. Tonneau cover also on it now. It's important to note that it was a rollover before and i bought it for $3600 with 44k miles on it. After it was fixed and stuff i had less that $7k into it and sold my 2000 Silverado for $6500 and it was a BASE truck. Only paid $500 for this one as an upgrade. Last truck has 120k miles and manual everything. Great truck so far for me ~Cole~
