my buddy's house is washing away
The city allowed his house to be built on a human waste lagoon. Now it's unlivable and the city is looking the other way. We made a little documentary of it, including getting escorted out of a City Hall meeting last night. He's trying to get a law firm to take his case so the city will buy him out and he can move on. Your views on this clip will greatly help:

Did you even watch the video? He was totally unaware that the city had covered in waste areas, and they signed off on it, and didnt notify the couple b4 they built. Obviously it was inspected prior to the build bc in order to build, there comes a PERMIT.
I HAVE sympathy for this family. I know that I'd want some help if I were in this situation, and id want at least sympathy from others. Not slaps across the cheek.

thanks man.
The more views the better. Ryan is trying to get an atty to take this case for a percentage. This will help.
He'll end up getting them to pay off his balance. They had to buy the houses across the street from him about ten years ago and level em. The whole block will end up being gone.
They knew better. Lets hope this comes to pass before a kid gets sucked up under that hollow street.

That is definitely a shitty deal, if it was truly built to code at the time of construction then they might be screwed. However, something seems a little bit off as to how they would be allowed to construct a residential building on top of a human waste lagoon. The city should at the very least be offering to help make the home livable considering the problem is taking place within city limits.

if i were them i would send that to every news station cbs nbc abc fox cnn and make it a nationally known thing, i bet cnn would have a had day with that ****, **** take it to obama he is fixing everything else so he should be able to help them out too ... lol but no really i would go past the city, go to the state or go to someone that is higher than the city that can really lay the smack down on the fkn city mayor... im no politician so if this is politicaly correct im sorry but, that is still what i would do... i think if you make it nationally known they city will kick it in to high gear and get this takin care of so they dont look bad, even though they already do... GOOD LUCK to the home owners and know that karma is a bitch, the mayor and city council members will get theres in the end, and karma works the other way around!

At the risk of an unpopular opinion, I don't think the city/taxpayers have a liability in this issue, nor does the builder if the house was built to code.
I will say that your friend is in a terrible situation, but I would think if your friend has anyone to blame it would probably be whomever he paid to do his home inspection. If the home is 20+ years old and your friend has only been in the house for the past 5, the problem should have been apparent 5 years ago and the home inspector should have found the problem. I would be willing to bet the prior home owner was aware of the problem also and failed to disclose the problem at the time of sale. The problem is that your friend would need some sort of documentation or proof the prior owner was aware for the problem.
I honestly feel bad for your friend. He seemed like a good person who's getting shafted big time, I just don't think the city or the builders have a liability over two decades later.
