Roger that.

4" pipe is a good choice for a V8 that comes alive above 3000 rpm and doesn't want much back pressure. One 4" pipe is roughly 11% smaller than two 3" pipes so it might work a little better than 3" true duals on a street car. Going over the axle is probably a pain in the butt to do at home without a mandrel bender at home, plus it just makes it heavier.

The 4" sounds so much better! Good choice and nice work.

Next up would be MAGNAFLOW i like the sound and performance of them as well.......Just wish they had a muffler the size of the flowmaster 1 chamber i would like to have 2 different setups......
they do. its p# mpe-14162 at summit.but imo the single chambers are the best u can get for a v8 motor, built or stock!

sounds phenomenal OP!!!! 100x better than the TD setup! ive been thinkin about doin this for awhile and after hearin that, its a done deal.one of the best sounding f-bodys ive ever heard!

thanks for sharing!!

Why not just merge the dual 3'' to single 4'' and take it over the axle and out the back? I'm tired of my neighbors complaining to our Association (3'' TD without mufflers). I rarely drive my car and since Dover has closed Gateway, I'm looking to make my car more street friendly/quiet. Here is what my current setup looks like.

What is going to take place in the next week is: cut the exhaust off behind the merge. Put in a 4 inch cut-out, electric plate, then reduce down to 3 inch and into a magnaflow cat-back. Quiet and loud at the same time. The original Flowmaster thats in this thread is officially for sale.

add a bullet muffler to the i-pipe at the same time. I have that setup and it takes away the rasp and makes the tone sooooo much better. You wont regret it.

I didnt think the magnaflows had too much rasp. I heard it on another car but I dont really remember what it sounded like. It was free from a buddy so Im not being too picky about the sound.

Single is louder and more raw then the 2 chambers. Plus its smaller all else being the same.

I like this muffler better then the single chamber...

Straight through design..I am going with a very similar setup, except I will be using a 3 in to 3.5 merge and a 3.5 magna flow like in the link..

Man, I'd think about whag you're doing real hard. I'm convinced that the over axle pipe and the series of bends is what gives us the signature f-body sound: rasp. I've got a 4" Y which reduces to a 3" Hooker and it might as well sound like any other F-body.

I've got my car back now (long rear end repair), and I want to start where I left off on my true dual build, only I don't think I'm gonna use the Warlocks. I'm thinkin about a cheap pair of Jones Full Boar 1 chambers. I'm tired of the sound made by my current combo and I can't wait to get rid of it.

Is yours just too loud?

Default Info was helpful

I first tried to hang my jegs muffler off the y pipe with about a 12 inch extension. It hung to low. I then tried a twelve inch glass pack. It tucked up nice in the tunnel by the drive shaft. It was to raspy. I then made a little mod to the rear floor pan and rehung the jegs two chamber muffler. I love it. Good clearence, nice sound and it doesnt hit or rattle. The back passenger seat went in as it should. There is only a small difference, very hard to notice. Oh it has bbk LT ORY. Thanks for the info very helpful.
