Yeah right.

This looks pretty promising. I wonder how much spray it can hold.

Went thru the first page on the terminator section and no one is mentioning trading in their cobra's for a GT. The only advantage I can see the GT having over the cobra is the fact that you're getting a brand new car with a hyped up motor that still cant hold a candle to the cobra's.

Never mind how much nitrous, let's see it take 550+rwhp on stock internals.

How else would it get there? There won't be many people going the forced induction route since it's a high compression engine.

That's very impressive, I would like to see more stock dyno # comparisons first to believe it 100%. I would take it over an 03/04 Cobra just because it's NEW, it has a WARRANTY, and yes bc I would blend in with every other car on the street and the 100,000 other owners. Ford is stepping up their game, and they are the only ones who kept their head above the water. Remember it's always good to have a little bit of competition. Ford got away without having any for 8 years so they finally had to bring something new and exciting to the table. And I'm pretty sure the new Mustangs hold an advantage over the Camaro in weight.

I don't see everyone just strapping superchargers on these either like they did with the 4.6 like unit34235423432423423 said. Just remember though, it needs 3 more cams and 16 more valves to make that kind of power lol.

I pm'ed Whipple yesterday to get an idea what kind of power they are getting out of these with a blower on top (pump gas). He responded "550rwhp". Not too shabby imo.

The new GT350 uses a Whipple btw.

why do u always post on ls1 tech? Isn't there some mustang forum u could post on? you are a mustang fanboy. I like to see posts about other cars, but you ALWAYS post something that has to do with a mustang seems like you are trying to strike up an argument.

hate to rain on the parade

but im pretty sure they dynod it in 4th gear...

gear ratios in the stang are 1.32:1 in 4th, and 1:1 in 5th.

just throwin it out there.

i mean that and it IS a dynojet.

Shouldnt dynoing it in fourth gear make the dyno more accurate? Everytime Ive watched a stick car on the dyno its always been in either third or fourth gear.

If thats a correct number for 4th gear and they did in fact have it in 4th then the numbers are lower than they should be. When you dyno in a lower gear it will raise the torque and lower the hp numbers. At least from my experience it does.

If I'm not mistaken it's not so much the gear you select that is important but entering the right gear ratio into the computer.
You can make 1000rwhp with a stock honda civic if you input the wrong gear ratio #'s in the computer. Making a dyno pull in a higher gear allows the motor to work harder and longer and gives the tuner a better view of how the engine performs at different operating speeds.
You can do a dyno pull in 1st gear but it will be over before the engine has too much time to do anything but squirt out a vague #.
On the other side of things it's a bad idea to dyno trucks with 1 piece drive-shafts in third gear because red-line for them in that gear is about 160mph and their stock DS goes boom at those speeds.
All dyno's are different of course but hope that helps.

Impressive numbers for a 5.0 liter engine... with dual cams and 3 valves/cyl... mustang.

What is the weight of this beast again?

Point... A 540 bhp GT500 made 510 rwhp on that same dyno. That is a very "Happy" Dyno in my opinion.

The Mustang made 416/394 on Premium during the official SAE J1349 Certification. That requires an independent SAE observer and all data from the run goes to the SAE. The director of the project signed off on the test stating that all production 5.0s should be within +/- 2% of that number. Since 2005 when this voluntary certification program was inacted (which Chrysler, Ford and GM all participate in) it has become very difficult to rate a car either very high or very low like the LS1 Camaros that were rated low to avoid competition with the Corvette. GM had to raise the rating on the Supercharged Northstar form 440 bhp to 469 bhp after this test.

Ford took advantage of the SAE +/- 1% rule allowing the engine to be rated slightly off (This was actually intended to allow engines to be rated at even numbers like 430 bhp instead of 431 bhp). They chose to rate it at 402/390.

While I am a current Mustang Owner and have a 2011 GT (just to point out Im not biased against the car) on order I suspect most cars on most dynojets will dyno a good bit lower than this. Im predicting 360-375 rwhp.

PS MSRP is $30,495 for a Base Mustang GT and $33,695 for a Mustang GT Premium including Destination.

Its 4V.

3603 lb Curb Weight or 3598 lb if you delete the rear spoiler.
Would come in right around 3535 lb with a 1/4 Tank of Fuel.
