Very impressive indeed. Nothing like some good competition.

That gt ran what bolt on ls1s run, so nothing to be worried about. Plus insideline's dyno numbers were inflated compared to motortrend's.

was that 435/408 from motor trend supposed to be at the crank? im interested to see what the aftermarket can squeeze out of this one!

real impressive car, need to get my dad to pick one up now hes always been a ford guy.

edit: 13.7 for the v6 is awesome too. I hope Chevy can step it up!

These things are gonna OWN 2010 Camaros stock for stock. We'll have to wait and see how they hold up mod-for-mod.

Where have you been?

motor trend ran 12.8 @ 110 with new GT

12.9 @ 110 for camaro.

Edmunds also ran the new GT at 13.0 @ 110...same exact numbers the camaro got.

Mod for mod Ls3 would be my guess. It is a 6.2. The 5.0 comes with facotry headers and a decent cai as well. 11.1 compression also.

Are you on crack? The new camaro's are running almost the exact same numbers. Even if the new mustang has 2 tenths on the camaro in the 1/4, I wouldn't exactly call that OWNING anything.

You guys crack me up. Motor Trend times? LOL

Real world drivers are going to be running 12.5-12.6 in these routinely. Not just 1 or 2 cars like with the Camaro. I bet Evan Smith of MM&FF will do it really soon if he hasn't already.

Maybe the use of the word OWN was a little much, but the Mustang has the same power as the SS with 350-400 lbs less weight. We're not talking quantum physics here fellas.

And I completely think that the SS will pull away once the modding starts, but we don't REALLY know yet.

Once again we are comparing the same mags. The camaro SS has run a 12.9 and a 13.0 in motor trend tests. It has run 12.58 as its best so far in the hands of private owners. Also...the cars have the same trap speed in both tests so far in the same mags, edmunds and also motor trend. I dont understand your logic. Why are you downgrading the camaro and giving the 5.0 every benefit?

Also it is a 240lb difference stock for stock between the m6 cars. This would give the mustang a .1 advantage not counting the torque....its not quantum physics....its simply a drivers race

I'm not downgrading the Camaro at all, wish I had one. Maybe I'm just so impressed that a stock GT is actually fast that I'm giving it more credit than it deserves, lol. The cars will be very close, like you said, drivers races. I would give the stang the edge if I had to bet though, given equal drivers. A .1-.2 and 1-2 MPH edge I would guess.

I suppose my logic is this: If MT gets one to run 12.8 @ 110.8, many other drivers will do a good bit better, just as they've done with the Camaro.

And you're right about the weight, my fault.

Anyone else think the v6 is the superior car?

High 13s at 102, better braking than the brembo equipped gt and a higher skidpad! I know I'm going to be alone in this argument but I've had ALOT of seat time in the 05-09 cars in both v6 and v8 around a roadcourse; and honestly the v6 is a FAR better handling car with all the weight off the nose.

The fact that I feel the nose is more handsome on the v6 is icing on the cake lol. Slap some boost at that v6 and sign me up for some roadcourse asswhopping.

Worked on a dudes car at the shop that had a $3k single turbo setup from Powerhouse on his 05 automatic v6 car.

He was going bottom 11s at 126 with a STOCK engine, STOCK auto trans, and was at 11.6s on the stock freaking converter!! 8.8 swap with gears. Total sleeper.

He scatted it trying to go 10s on stock everything. It now sports a built 4v 5.4 with a huge *** single lol.

Didn't Evan Smith take a bone stock 02 SS Camaro (110% Stock) into the high 12's? All I'm saying is that the numbers for the new Stang are great, but over a decade newer technology, it still isn't a boat load quicker than a 01-02 LS1, and as someone previously mentioned, it's right on par with a lightly bolt on Fbody.

Adding Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials is NOT 110% Stock... Mustang GT is faster than that on STREET TIRES...

Do you honestly believe what you just said? Im pretty sure Ford knows exactly what they are doing with the new GT. They could have very easily outpowered the new SS but that would be pointless.. Its the same with GM, they dont want to up the power so much that they kill each other but to make them both competitive with each seeking a little edge over the other... It gives each company room to work with every time they change something without going too far

Yes, yes I do-If you are talking about the part where I specifically mentioned Evan's running the 02 SS into the high 12's.
