I would like to point out that the "Volkswagen" has a Lamborghini Chassis and Engine.
It probably won't be long until boost logic or UR has a turbo on one.

I would go for the R8. If I'm going to drop over 100k on any new car, it better be pretty special though.
Frankly, one of the new 911 turbos would be even better. Apparently they're a hair slower than a ZR1 around a track and quicker in the 1/4.
Even Car and Driver managed to get an 11.0 at 128mph out of a stock one. It's also closer in price to the ZR1 than the R8 (130k starting).

Volkswagen owns Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bugatti, so there are plenty of $350,000+ VWs rolling around, and some $1.5MILLION+ VWs, according to your logic. Just because they built crappy golfs 10 years ago doesn't mean they don't know their way around a super car. I would drive anything they build today. Not buy, but drive.
