I agree that many of Ford's traction control systems can be very intrusive. But I still don't see how traction control plays part in a roll race from the speed shown in the video. We're talking about high 12 second cars at best here, traction from a second gear roll should not be an issue.

I'm not sure how traction control works in the S197 Mustangs, but I can tell you in mine that it would cut the fuel off completely at WOT. It felt like you hit a brick wall when traction control kicked on. I would imagine Ford got a little smarter this time around. Just throwing that out there...not making excuses. It's nice that Ford made a more stout platform to start with, but it's still slow and it will require mods like every stock car.

Nice race, didn't expect that outcome but the owner of both the cars seems to have a pretty level head about the whole thing! Not a fan boy of either, just an admirer of both brands!!

i dont know about you all but when i roll race i give it a little clutch so you get the jump! this causes tire spin, a little spin never hurt. imo traction control on a sports car of any kind is the most retarded thing ive ever heard of!

I agree more seat time, traction control(depending what speed they left from) and break in miles will make the Mustang faster, but again, let's keep things in perspective. How experienced was the driver of the Camaro in driving the Camaro? How many miles were on the LS1(high miles many WOT bursts=loss of HP) and was Traction Control an option on the Camaro? If so, was it on or off?

I for one just like seeing the muscle car battles comming back from the factories. I think it pushes the companies for better technology and better performing car. I like both the new 5.0s and SS's. Just my thought but I love seeing the wars back

Can someone explain to me how traction control is going to affect the outcome of that roll race? Especially when it didn't seem to hurt the Mustang either, seeing how he jumped... The SS ran him down easily once he was already moving along nicely.
So basically the LS1 won both races. The Mustang jumped BOTH times, and then provides, not one, not two, not three, but FOUR excuses for it?![Cry](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_cry.gif)

Another 2010 Ford Mustang feature is AdvanceTrac® traction control. According to Ford, AdvanceTrac uses sensors to detect and measure side-to-side skidding conditions. It does this by monitoring the vehicle's speed, throttle position and steering wheel angle. When AdvanceTrac senses wheel slippage, it reduces engine torque and applies the brakes as needed.
it cuts throttle, and applies the brakes. also torque managment will cut throttle response at shifts. the last interference is the tach on 2011's are slower than the motor. guys will hit the limiter(fuel cut-off) and hurt the run.
all those things are not the driver's fault. a tune will fix most of it when they become available. his car was bad-lean down low and pig-fat up top. its a typical factory car.
safe tune, torque management for warranties, low rev limiter.

im not surprised of the out come.
i knew that fords power rating of 400 and something horsepower was bull ****.
everyone knows cubic inches matter, i dont wanna hear that a 5.0L makes 15 less horsepower than a 6.2L. also, i dont think it makes more than a 5.7L either.that sounds like ricer math to me. thats my general opinion with out going into the specs of the engines.
with that said, i love all american cars (and some imports) and the mustang does look very cool. i love the exterior and interior, it is very stylish

Wow I've been without a Mustang for nearly 10 years but I see the Chevy vs Ford wars are alive and well![Punch](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_punch.gif)
I've owned a couple of Fox 5.0 Mustangs including my last 89GT with a 10:5:1 347.I just love Mustangs and will enjoy my 2011 GT when it get's here but let me say this.I will allways feel like the Mustang is starting with a disadvantage when compared to the Chevy small block
My brother had both a 85 IROC with L69 5 speed and later a 92 Vette with LS1 and I drove both on a regular basis. The Corvette was one of the fastest bone stock cars I had driven and had no trouble beating my heavily modded 91 notch AOD.I did not beat any Camaro SS or Corvettes until I had a 347 and even then they were not heavily modded.
I keep hearing the Modular guys talking about beating LS1's and Vettes and I know that without a power adder It's bs.I probably wont do much in the way of mods to my new Mustang and if It's as fast as my brothers 92 vette I'll be quite happy.
I dont want to here the excuses about traction control etc.the Mustang got walked by the LS1 and I've allready warned the new 5.0 guys about hunting Camaros and WS6,Corvettes etc you better have some mods or you might get embarrassed (sp) ok I'm done
