2011 GT vs Stock LS1...this is gonna be FUN!!!

so an engine that was 1st put in the 97 corvette now has competition 14 model years later and now we got ford guys registered over on this forum like they are going to change the world if they make some fancy post. your just a few guys on the internet out of the World 6,821,753,815 population.
If the mustang runs better times than the f-body and 5th gen congrats but it took fords *** 14 model years to step up its game. And throwing up a video of a modded 5.0 is pointless people are comparing stock to stock not stock vs aftermarket fbodys can lift their front wheels also with aftermarket parts.

DaSkinny.. if you are referring to just the Mustang GTs then yes. But Ford has been making Mustangs that have been faster for awhile now.
And all that whining above kinda sounds like sour grapes. BTW I was a member here before the 2011 5.0 was even announced.

I've actually had the car spin so hard/fast that it disabled the Traction control on it's own i went WOT and felt the tires go up in smoke and the traction control lights all lit up and the traction control stopped working. I've also had the car sideways, feathering the gas to allow the car to stay on the path i wanted, and it was spinning and the traction control never kicked in. I'm not sure how the newer cars TC works but i was suprised mine didn't engage as easily as i thought it would. Sometimes it engages right away. I think it depends how much slip the car senses.

The 10 HP per 100 lbs seems to be a standard.
So, following that FoMoCo is lacking 20 hp/ft lb somne where
Anyways... I like the fact that they brought back a 4.9l/5.0l engine, but **** i wish it was a pushrod engine!
If they kept that 05-09 body style, took time to do a pushrod 302 and stuffed it in the GT I'd be close to adding one to my collection.
Just CAN NOT do that OHC bullshit

Looks like it runs pretty good. Isn't there a new camaro we can line up here? lol
Prob a lot easier to find a true stock one.
Can't wait to line up with one of these. We'll see what's what

i forget who said it, but the one guy hit the nail on the head. its a drivers race, but its taken the fordboys 14 production years!!! that would be the same as comparing the same 01 SS to a bone stock 87 mustang!!!! and talking the ss up! well no duh its gonna be faster!

What's all this "14 production years" nonsense... Are we honestly considering the 1997 Corvette as the basis? Aside from that question, which of us has completely forgotten the 2003/4 Mustang Cobra? It was indeed a factory Ford automobile and while it obviously got a S/C, it still did it's thing and I don't recall any stock production F-body in history being quicker on average. For that matter, we can all go back in time to look at what was... It won't change what is. For example: I don't see anyone complaining that the new ZR1 has to have a supercharger to do anything... Yet, without one, who thinks it would outrun the current ZO6? Anybody? Al Gore???
The LS1 was outstanding, but it's not GM's choice engine anymore and has been surpassed by other, newer LS renditions many times over impo. Ford chose a different path(like nearly every other manufacturer) and it's paying off for them. No need to hash out what's better to that end as both have proven to be great engines regardless of power, to the benefit of millions.
After all that, I'd sure like to see those 2 cars give it another go, but this time AT THE DRAG STRIP! I'm thinking it would be great if the owner drove one, then the other, on multiple passes, as they sit. Then we'd have a good idea what to expect, though still hardly perfect.

I think they are purely talking about the GT. Ford's models and sales are different from GM. LS1 Fbodies usually sold for more than the GT as well. Well until now. So it's no surprise that now Ford has a GT that costs as much as a Camaro, that it's also going to be as fast, or faster than it. GM really never had a car in the price range or speed as the Cobra either. The Z28 I hear will be GM's answer to Ford's cobra. But will it be as heavy as the new Camaros? Lets hope not.

If they make the Z/28(at all) with a supercharger, as I've read over and over now, I believe you can flatly count out any idea that it will also be lighter. If they do that AND make it lighter, expect to see a Z/28 which happens to be more in the price range of the Corvette GS. Any of these companies can do better things... But the buyer will pay for every step they take.
Bottom line (for me): I think it's only wishful thinking that GM will build a Z/28 that's lighter than the current SS unless they only build it N/A. And for me, drop the ZO6 engine in it and we'll be just fine.
