Bolded part is wrong, if you say mis-shift from third to second your rev limiter will not save you. Ask me how I know.

Whoa............you didn't? What happened? Dynamite something? In all my years, I can honestly say I've never done that. I've heard of it happening but, never knew anyone who did it either. I suppose it can happen though. Ouch! Sorry to hear that.

Shifted from 3rd to 2nd, was at 6k in 3rd when I shifted. Just bent a few valves though, nothing too big.

I can agree that if you mechanically over-rev the motor going 3-2 the rev limiter will not stop it. My old 4.3 v-6 hit around 11,300 on a missed shift.....
