If they really made this 10 second pass with a stock motor and no nitrous, my guess is that they took quite a bit of weight out some where (even though they claim to still have a full interior). Not sure how much you can take out of an S197 chassis without chopping it....so I'm kinda interested to see what the race weight was.

The car is fast like it our not. This car shattered everyone's opinion on what they thought this little motor was capable of.Thats a little hard to swallow after being the undisputed bad *** motor ever made for what 12ve years.I will give Chevy that. But now its a different story, now they gotta be envious when they say 12.80's was bad *** with the stock air filter.Every half *** gt owner can do that now.Chevy will try to come back but they have to loose some weight. Why not make a retro nova with an ls3 solid rear axle 3200 lbs then it truly would be game over. The playing field has changed a bit....

We got one in the 9's now, I'm also smart enough not to start a new thread.

Music in the vid gay, pulled following info from local forum:
Congrats to Richard Lelsz and Strictly Performance on running the first 9-second run with a 2011 5.0L Mustang GT.
The shop swapped out the stock six-speed manual trans for a C4 and then he plumbed a direct port nitrous system. Using prototype tuning software, Lelsz threw down 656 rwhp this morning on the dyno.
The white GT features upper and lower control arms, Bogarts all around, and the aforementioned parts.
Tonight during Test And Tune at Houston Raceway Park, Lelsz ran 9.96 at 137 mph right off the trailer! Congrats to the entire team on running so quickly with the shop ride and pushing the boundary even further.

But seriously, the right cam can be cheap and lead to even greater numbers with spray; it would be retarded to not swap it out.
That mustang is hauling *** though!

Very nice all out effort work done by a shop.

here's video of a all out effort done by another shop. If the work is put in you can get the same results in either car
