yeah blows nuts dont it?
im trying to convince the insurence company that its worth $14000.
if i can do that then ill have the money to cover the copay, pay off the bank, buying back the car and still have $2000 to look for a down payment for a new car. im talking to the clames people tomarrow so hopefully it goes well... i just have the burning feeling that they are going to try to low ball me. ah well

insurance companies always try to do that. just get quotes from alot of different places that say your car would have been worth that much or more, then talk about how rare your color was and try your best to fight for every nickel

Yep, all tucked up nice and neat. A guy I work with has a 99 2.2 with coilovers. The only thing that hangs is the exhaust.

If I was going with a daily driver car, i'd try to find a 2000/1 2.5RS 2 door. I'm looking for a truck though. My buddies 2.2L is really fun to drive. It's not really quick, but it handles pretty nice, and is fun in the snow

the 2.5 rs is sweet and cheep but the 2.2 turbo is way quicker.. i was thinking going with a 2.5 and turbo it with the $ i save but apparently the 2.5's react very badly to forced induction... so now im thinking getting the rs then picking up a jdm twin turbo engine and tranny

There is no 2.2 turbo. The WRX is a 2.0. The STi is a 2.5. The older Impreza (95-01) never had a turbo car. The 2.2L is the regular Impreza. The 2.5RS was the sportiest/quickest model available until the WRX came out in 02. I guess the early 2.5 likes to blow head gaskets in naturally aspirated trim. I'm sure it's multiplied under boost. Nontheless, if you want a turbo, just buy something that that has one on it if you want to save some money.

Anyway, how could you even consider a Subaru as a replacment for the Formula? The only way you could is if you were getting the STi. If you were paying that much for a car, you'd be better off with another LS1 and putting the rest of the money into mods.

cudaeh the new 2.5 they are using on the STI and the Forester XT acutally do really well when turbo charged, that's because they use a lower compression than a non-turbo 2.5 (the engine in the RS).

My dad just got a new Subaru 2.5XT Forester which has the 2.5 turbo, similar to the STI engine but with lower boost and a smaller turbo. The forester is very quick, especially in stick. In one of the car mags, I think car and driver a manual forester xt ran 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, quarter in like 14.3., faster than a manual WRX (non STI). Of course I dont think the forester looks as nice as a WRX.

Now personally I would NOT go with a RS non turbo subaru, with an aftermarket turbo kit. That is unless you have the cash to really rip apart that engine to get it ready for turbocharging. The WRX wagon is really the way to go. It has an engine built from the ground up for turbocharging. I also think the WRX wagon is very slick looking.

never considered it a replacement ... the reson i got the bird in the first place was when i was looking for my first good new car. somthing i could drive dependibly i ran across it on the lot for a great price and couldent pass it up.
i love the fbodys but how could you comair a scoobie to an fbody .... they are to totaly diffrent forms of motorsports. the fbods are great for drag and auto cross. the scoobs are great auto cross too but they are made for rally. im not replacing the fbody just switching intrests... ive gone fast in a streight line. now i want to pay in the snow rather then dreading it. i want to find the dustyest damn roads and play in the turns .... rather than back off from them not knowing when the back end will snapp around. ... all prefrence shift my man.
