408 Trans Am! First time at the track.
Finally got the TA out to the track after being rained out the last 3 times. I went to Byron Dragway in Byron, Illinois. This is my first time at the track ever so i think there is plenty of room for improvement. the car only has a little bit of tuning done and im going to have it completely retuned with speed density. I also have to install my chris1313 ram air and FTP 104mm lid. My best run was 11.6 with a 1.8 60" @ 123.16MPH.
Very first run ever Decent launch but missed 2nd.

What do you guys think of my launches? Is there anything i could be doing better? I know my r/t kinda sucked but other than that....
I was launching at about 3500 rpms. Should i be launching higher? This car also puts down around 500rwhp just so you guys know.

Its got Bilstein shocks and an eibach prokit. Global West TQ arm, hotchkis LCA's, tubular k-member.
putting down in the 500rwhp ballpark right now. Should be about 550rwhp with my new tune and intake stuff.

I feel like you could get a much better tune. I have a 408 with a fairly aggressive cam, stock ls6 intaked, ported stock TB, stock MAF, patriot stage 1.5 heads, and i'm making 500/476 to the wheels. My engine is suffocating on itself and still made those numbers.
who is it tuned by? oh, and where did you get the tranny built?

Yeah the tune i have now is kind of crap, it was never finished though. When we realized my slp lid and stock MAF was limiting air flow we stopped tuning and were going to resume when i got the new MAF. Never got the MAF and now im going Speed Density. The best we got out of it was like 515rwhp. The Tune was done by FLP here in Naperville but now im going to have it redone by Modern Muscle.
I actually bought the tranny from a guy here on tech. I cant remember his name but he rebuilt it himself as well as several other transmissions. The trans is from a c6 z06 built to handle 800+ ftlbs of tq and to fit in an fbody.

what rubber are you on...If a drag radial or slick you need to be dropping it alot higher unless the track/suspension wont hold it...usually a slick works alot better for the m6 guys...
this is what i mean
28" tall slick with 4.56s...leaving at like 6500

Im running 315/35r17 M/T drag radials. Ive got 4.10 gears and i was launching at about 3500. I dont think those tires would hold if i left at 6500, i could probably go a bit higher than i was but im not sure. With the way i was launching i did feel it spin just slightly. the car in the video has a MUCH better setup than i do but is he almost dumping the clutch on the launch? Looks like hes coming out very hard. Is that what i should be doing?
