Default Camaro scale model

Several weeks ago I had some pretty strong pain killers & some time to kill taking it easy when I came across Chamans thread about his Trans Am model car. I used to be into the hobby but haven't had a chance to do anything in the last few years. Several years ago I built a model of my camaro when it was pretty much stock & figured I would go back & take it apart & rebuild it to look like it does now while I had a little time & was inspired.

Started with the engine, used some thin sheet metal flashing to creat the valve covers, then relocated the coils to the top, aluminum tubing & braided line for the fuel lines, fuel press. gauge, spark plug wires, & relocated the power steering pump res. (not pictured yet) I also noticed that over the years I had lost the throttle body so I used my aluminum flashing & tubing to make my own. I also got creative with the intake setup, thats all unpainted aluminum too. All together I think I remember counting 84 peices of aluminum on the engine alone with all the brackets & fuel lines combined.

Then I decided to make my own headers because the stock manifolds weren't going to do with everything else I had done.

Stock manifolds & material I used to make the headers...

Thanks guys, little slow with the updates but I have a lot this time!

Some rear suspension detail, I used my metal tubing & made the trailing arms, panhardt bar, shocks, & torque arm. I also used the springs from a mechanical pencil. I have all UMI stuff under there that I painted silver on my car so it all goes together.

Front end coming together, all tubular as well.

Real car for comparison:

A little interior work...

Made the cage out of the same tubing, found some racing seats in an old parts box, made the seat belts out of painted & treated masking tape, buckles out or thin sheet metal, made my own gauge overlay, picked up a TA model for accurate door panels, (I will someday be building a TA model with camaro door panels I guess lol.) I also shaved the console like mine & you can see the engine bay coming together. Those that have this model or the TA will be able to tell how much material I had to cut out & rebuild around the air lid area to make my intake idea work. I also still need to paint the STB green in the pics.

Real car for referance, as you can see I don't have the green inserts in the seats or doors yet, this model will help me decide if thats the direction I want to go or not.
Very old pics by the way...

Very nice work man.... Love the attention to the little details. You ever think about building them for ***** & selling them on Ebay or something? I got like 30 1:18 die cast cars from when I was younger. I bought them for like $30-60 a piece. Some were even more..... But I was wondering how you liked those Bride racing seats? They look pretty comfortable

I did build one several years ago to sell. My bosses wife asked me to scratch build her husbands dirt track car for his birthday, she paid me $500 cash.

Earley body work pics.... Decided to cut the doors open & hinge them too. Also had to widen the fenders.

Some mock up pics... Wider fenders, rockers, 6LE nose & rear bumper, used the SS hood & reshaped it with sheet plastic to look like the Sunoco & also made the Z28 spoiler out of sheet plastic instead of trying to make the SS spoiler work. Also had to make the door jambs with the sheet plastic.

Sorry, missed the part about the seats. I like them, they are pretty comfortable but I haven't gone for a drive longer that about an hour & a half since I put them in but I still liked them at the end of it! The only issue I had was that they are big @ the bottom & a tight fit inside the car width wise.
