if they named it ZL1 why couldnt they use the 427 instead, with all assist's and carbon fiber of the new Z06 carbon. If the Z lost 115, IIRC i bet the camaro would be in the 36-3800 range.
I could go on but we should be happy they made one that will beat the stang and i dont care if "its not made to compete with the 5.0".

Z28s were the road racing car, SSs were the dragstrip car. Z would outrun 350 SS all day long in a straight line but couldn't mess with the 396s. 396s couldn't hang with a Z in the curves though. A ZL1 with the trunk headers, slicks and some carb tuning went mid 10s. Remember now folks, those times listed were before the headers were installed and on, at widest, 8in wide oval bias ply tires. Take your stock LS1 to the track on those type of tires and see what times you could pull.

correct me if im wrong but the orignal camaros. first gen
went
base camaro
rs package
ss package
rs/ss
then the z28 /z28rs kinda deal
up untill the 4th gens, the z28 was always meaner then the SS, granted the 375/396 was rated more i do belive the 302 z28 was hugley underrated with lots of info to back theat up now...should be a z28
zl1's where a HUGLEY rare car i thought being it was a copo option

Correct in the 60's the Z/28 was the faster top of the line not the SS so I personally dont mind that at all. still waiting for the Z/28..

Incredibly wrong.. The Z/28 should have a 5.0 liter pushrod motor that rev's to 7500 rpms, it should go on a huge diet, have big wheels/brakes, etc. Not a big motor.

The Z28 should be lightweight SOLID REAR AXLE, 18/19 Wheels, and a 427 LS7. With its bar set high the blue oval has no other option but to start putting F/I on VVT/DOHC setup and we can replay the 2002SS vs the 2003 Cobra ALLL over again.
Better yet: GM quit molesting this platform and create a NEW GNX, since we lost pontiac in the recession, that is everything listed above!!!
