Exclamation LT1 vs '11 V6 Stang

Been wanting to run this one for a while, turned out to be just as close as we thought. i was the cameraman for these runs and whichever car I was in lost, it was that close.

2011 Mustang V6- Roush axleback, 6 speed manual.
1995 Camaro Z28- intake, magnaflow catback, auto w/ stock 3.23 gears.

RUN 1= passenger in Mustang
RUN 2= passenger in Camaro (Z28 spun and got a bit sideways)
RUN 3= passenger in Camaro
RUN 4= no passenger in either

Tried to get in a roll, but it didn't work out. There will most likely be a rematch, hopefully with some more mods. Rolls might be included.

EDIT: Just adding a couple pics. Keep it mind, it was pitch black outside when we took these.

These V6 cars (Camaro/Mustang) have come quite a ways lately which is good. It's also good to see and hear that they sound like an actual V6 car and not a V6 trying to sound like a V8 car like the 4th gen V6 F-Bodies and previous V6 Mustangs.

#1 It's not my LT1, learn how to read.
#2 Your car has a good amount of more mods than the LT1 in this video.

These new V6s make a good bit more horsepower than the LT1s do, the torque just isn't there. That's why this made for an interesting race. You are the exact kind of person I expected to reply to this thread, with the exact type of response I expected. Way to represent so well for the LT1 crowd.

FWIW, That car isn't that slow (for a stock LT1). Here's that same car, bone stock racing an LS1. The LS1 didn't come around until after 100mph.

That's a forgone conclusion, so there's no point.

I'm tired, but with the logic of the last video...the '11 V6 Mustang should be about as fast as that LS1 huh?

I've seen a few run at the 1/8th mile down here, between 9.90-10.20...thats like low 15's.
I run 8.80-9.20, haven't seen any bolt on/stock LS1 do any better.

Of course, there are better drivers in the world, just stating my observations.

Would like to see 6spd vs. 6spd though (the v6's are 6spds as well now, right?)
Or auto vs. auto.

Not bagging the car at all, its very exceptional...
If they looked like the 05-09 body style I would be very much envious, poor old 15 year old cars aren't looking so hot anymore lol...thats why there's a cam swap =)

No. That LS1 was another friends' and it met a guardrail, so it won't be running anytime soon. Good thing too, it was the slowest LS1 ever. 2.73 gears killed it. Ran like 13.7-8 bone stock. The V6 would have beat that LS1 and not given up the lead like the LT1 did top end.

Really? You must be at altitude or something because my 1/8 times were slow at 8.5. A stalled/bolt-on LS1 would rape those times. If your DA is crazy high though, that's a perfect explanation.

We set this up for the LT1 really well, no rolls just digs. It should have owned in the digs, but it still got beat. From a roll, the stang would have won by an easy 2+ cars. Tough to find a stock LT1 around but another friend has a 96 WS6 with LTs and true duals so we will try to line that up. I think the t/a might edge it out by a nose, but not too much more.

Both the manual and automatic transmissions for all Mustangs (V6 and V8) are 6 speeds.

That's what time & technology do...oh well.

Just in central Texas lol, I doubt there's much DA if any...not sure where to find it but I race at Denton North Star Dragway, and its always been under 70 degrees.
Track prep isn't the greatest lol.

Damn, that LS1 is slow lol, maybe I could find a '11 V6 around here, would be interesting to see how it goes down...all I have is longtubes/cai lol.

I raced a '10 GT with headers/full exhaust and intake and he ran like mid-upper 9's I think, terrible launch though.
Also a certain H/C/stalled LS1 ran 8.8 =P but I won't give him too much ****, he might as well have skinnies on the back lol

I'm only pulling 2.2 60's and trapping 83mph, what to the '11 V6's do around you?

I can find out the DA pretty easy. Just give me the last date and approximate time of the run and I'll plug it in on dragtimes to find the DA.

And some sexy as wheels.

Sounds like he desperately needs the driver mod.

Unfortunately, our track (Gateway) is closed. Might reopen in July if the buyout happens, so until then I can't give any insight there. The fastest time I've seen for a stock '11 V6 is 13.7@102 I think. If our track reopens, this stang will be there.

FWIW, I pulled a best 60' of 1.90 on $75 245 street tires, 10 bolt, stock clutch (and longtubes/true duals, 3.73s). I'm sure you can get yours down as well.
