It gets hard to compete w/o paddle shifters and to much weight on the front......What pisses me off is the hard headed american auto companys should be pioneering this **** instead of just trying to figure out ways to give their CEO's a big fat bonus.

Those guys are SUPER biased when it comes to those tests. The front two drivers were the only ones trying for a good time, all the rest were out for a sunday drive.

Damn, that GTR made the F430 GT3 look like it was sleeping at the line.

I know for a fact that the Zr1 could've at least came in 2nd looking at all of the other track results against these same cars according to M/T & C/D.

It still posted a very good time of 1:53.96 on the qualifying lap (lap to determine its starting place (not shown)).
That was only half a second slower than the GTR and much faster than the LFA and Ferrari.
That's why you see it started in third, in front of the GTR and GT2 RS.
The GT2 RS blew them all away as far as quickest time.

Unfortunately, Hattori apparently can't handle the car at all...
He also doesn't have anywhere near the racing credentials as the others do, having only raced in INDY Lights and CART for a brief time.

Anybody that has EVER driven a CART car is perfectly capable of handling a stock ZR1 around the race track.

In case you didn't notice, the Porsche uses a regular gearbox... and it's RWD

This video is not an accurate model of all the cars abilities. That is a BMI video. Those guys don't know how to drive American cars. I've seen other videos they've put out with the C5 vette and the vette got crushed, because they don't know how to drive them. The best driver out of that group is Tsuchiya in the GTR.

He didn't do very well in CART.

Also, he did not post the qualifying lap and then proceeded to not even come within 3 seconds of it during the actual race.

Put Tsuchiya in the ZR1 and it would be a different story.

The fact that he even MADE it to CART says all that needs to be said. The Stig never got to Formula 1... but that doesn't matter. You're talking about somebody in the top .002% of drivers instead of the top .0015%.

cart and road cars are completely different animals. Some drivers ...and very very few are good in anything they get in, and others drivers only accel at one type of car.

That may be true, but using the fact that he "only" drove in CART isn't good evidence to support the argument that he couldn't handle a stock ZR1.

I dont think his short Cart experience is to blame. I think they just need someone in there that is used to instant tq of a v8. Maybe a C6R driver. I dunno if there is any drivers in Japan that have that kinda experience on a racing level but that Corvette is another kinda animal compared to the other cars.
