IROC vs G8GT
well maybe he changed it out from the A4 to the M5......but there is still no way he went 8.2 with just what he listed. when i had a 305 in my IRoC before i stroked it. I had every bolt-on to man.....with a cam, rockers, headers..everything!... and a 3200 stall with and i think i went something like a 9.0 with a 1.7 60".....so his 350 with just headers and a 100 shot did not give him .8.....LOL!!!!
Every car is different, plus they are driven by different drivers on different tracks with different temperatures, yet you think his car with his mods should run a specific time? There are so many variables from car to car there's no way you can make a comparison. Stock times can vary by .5 or so and the gap gets larger with mods since they might not work well together. Ever hear of a factory freak?

lol at everyone thinking the lsx is gods motor.... its not ALL that. Get over yourselves...15-18deg sbc's hand LSX motors their ***. Compare apples to apples not some 80's tech street car 23 deg head setup vs 2000's technology with 15 deg setups. Bang for the buck, ls motors are great stuff but all out performance, there are still some very strong sbc based motors...its all in the heads. Same with any motor for that matter.

Looks about normal to me. My 89 L98 went 80mph with just shorties/exhaust, 2800 stall on ET streets, best ET of 8.59. Few more intake bolt ons and such, eventually got down to 8.2's. For stock intake TPI to go 8.2 at 82 with a stick thats impressive but could be possible in the right air.

I dunno, my 92 ran 8.2@ 82MPH and 7.40@ 88MPH on a 100 shot. Nothing more than a set of long tubes with duals and an adjustable FPR. 120K miles on it 350 5speed

most automotive forums are filled with this arrogant crap. i have seen it on this forum too just in the short time i have been here. from what i see that local forum in st louis has the arrogance and could not accept someone liking a car that isnt theirs
NO WAI?!?! Really?!? I had a 92 305 5speed with the G92 option. It was totaled a couple years later and I purchased a 91 350 auto and after busting 2 700's in 3 months I swapped the tranny's out. I swapped 90% of the 305 car over to the other car including doors and interior. It was a completely manual car with crank windows and manual seats. I removed the AC/heater box and the venting under the dash. Left the compressor cause at the time it was hard to find the delete pulley. Car weighed 3300 pounds without me in it. When you decide to go fast there are 2 ways. Get light or make power!! If you need a pic of the time slip let me know. It's 10 years old but I'm sure I can find it!

My car has 280 hp, I run 12.50s. I have dyno graphs to prove it off of a dyno jet. This G8 is probably a 13 second car and even in the dig it wasn't even close. There is no way with your stock heads and minor bolt ons and stock compression that you could be pulling as much power as you think out of it. Everybody has been guilty of saying their car has more hp than they have though. That's my $0.02

My best friend picked up an '89 IROC-Z TPI car as his first car. A little fuzzy on brands of mods but the previous owner had header back exhaust on it and had some "spare parts" around so he upped it to 355ci for some reason. My buddy free modded the intake to give it ram air, not sure if he did anything with the runners or not, and he did some suspension work. It would run high 12's - low 13's depending on track conditions. It handled well and made good torque down low. It also had a built 700R4 trans (level 4 I think)
He traded it for a supercharged buick. He doesn't regret the decision because the Buick is obviously more comfortable and luxurious but he said the IROC felt faster.

I liked my 305 TPI when I had it. It wasnt horrible. Not exactly fast...but not exactly a slug either. The 350s weren't bad but I never had to live with one. However nothing brings a smile to my face quicker than when someone underestimates my 3rd gen Ive surprised a LOT of people.
Ive long since waved bye bye to the old SBC. Ill never run one again unless I get an older car to restore that will strictly be a show/cruiser.
I will say this...do what you want with your car. I hate when people make others feel like what they have is junk. Screw off... That is the lamest crap ever...schoolyard behavior. Not saying its happening on this board. And there certainly isnt anything wrong with good natured ribbing. Just keep it fun! Its what its all about!
