i don't get it...

you spent 30,000 to swap in something far worse than what was originally in the car? why didn't you just put another 3.4 stroker in the car, spend 20k less, and make an extra 20k?

if you did it just to do it. then that's even worse than sayin you did it to make money lol.

almost like saying... "yeah, i cut off my left hand because i had a saw and i could, didn't need that POS anyway, it was always jerkin me around".

but seriously... sure it was put in clean, im sure you spent a lot of time on it, but you just brought the value of it down, and make it worse than it was to start.

you sure have a long thread over on supraforums though, a lot of bashing, but honestly it's deserved when you have to put in a built motor that weighs more than the stock one, to make what the stock one makes with a couple of bolt-ons.

I'm sure he doesn't really give a **** about the value. It's different and still pretty bad-*** plus it's still got quite a bit of potential to up the ante.

he mentions the cost of putting it all together, while listing a salvage title car for 20k... pretty sure he does lol.

On a side note, if this was someone putting in a 2JZ in a 02 WS6 Trans Am, he would get ******* flamed hard.

true, as the motors you are capable of swapping into a ws6 without having to hack everything to bits to make it fit are capable of everything you need them to be.

you end up trying to make special mounts, convert everything over, just to run an i6 from a bmw makes no sense.

Exactly. We all love it because it's a big V8 in an import-a legendary import at that. But if someone swapped a 2JZ into one of our cars, all the GM fanboys would freaking lose their mind and get all insecure.

OP, I think it's awesome-clean too!

Thanks. And for everyone going on and on about weight, this motor weighs about the same as a 2JZ considering it doesnt have any turbo plumbing and it has aluminum heads/intake...

serious?

SBC bored, stroked with addons = around 600.

2jz with slight mods that include a single turbo put it around 480.... (twin turbo setup weighs 105 lbs alone, but removing all of that piping and doing the single bolton upgrade removes about 30-35 lbs from that whole assembly.)

You sure?
Typical iron block/al. head SBC's are around 500lbs.
Everything Ive seen has the 2JZ around 600-700lbs, and Im pretty sure thats without the turbo and piping...

The 2JZ GE weighs right at 500lbs. The 2JZ-GTE with all turbos and plumbing weighs exactly 594 lbs. I don't know where you are getting 700lbs for a 2JZ-GTE. The car wouldn't weigh 3417 lbs stock if it was that heavy. And it definitely wouldn't have its 53/47 weight distro with that much weight up front.

It even states in your links that the 2JZ without turbos and plumbing equates to be 450lbs. It also puts in the wieght of the fully dressed 2JZ GTE with transmission as well.

i didn't wanna call names, but seriously.. your own link to SF shows the 2jz weighing in at 524 minus the fan and flywheel.... lightened flywheel is 14 lbs.

524 - 30 lbs for a single turbo conversion is *gasp* 496? pretty close to 480 like i said. and there are a few other things that are removed when doing a single conversion that arent attached to the plumbing of the turbos themselves.

now if you wanna get more techincal a 700r4 weighs 140 lbs plus 35 for the torque converter. a v160 (and a340e built) weigh around 120 and 18 for a clutch and pressure plate. adding even more weight to the v8 setup.

and going by a whole bunch of info i've seen, SBC weigh in at 575 to start. add in forged internals and whatnot and you get my point.

edit, also. you linked to a hybrid forum and expect accuracy? for starters they are showing a 6spd weighing nearly 160 lbs, try looking up the supra hard top registry. people have weighed every single part capable of being removed from the car, and its been done for a while. i wouldn't trust any weights listed by a guy trying to sell stuff wholesale who wants to make sure he makes an extra dime off shipping either.

Definately different.

Needs LS1..

If not, then a built up 2JZ with a 90mm on it..
