Talking My 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9L 360ci V8

Picked this up on Friday out past Gettysburg, PA. 134k miles on the odo. Some minor body scratches. Mechanically it seems great *knock on wood*. These things are fast for what they are. 245 hp, 345 lb. ft. of torque, AWD, high 14's/low 15's in the quarter (stock). Not bad for being 5000 lbs. Road Holding Index: .75 g. FUN as heck Jeep.

Here are some photos...

Nice score. Didn't you have another Jeep GC? I used to have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2dr. I loved that SUV, should have never sold it. It had the 4.0L engine and was super reliable. I wouldn't mind picking up another Cherokee or Grand Cherokee.

Great looking Jeep. Especially for its age. Any plans for it?

Let me know when you see this message:
"Coolant Sensor Bad."

They 5.9l LTD isn't bad. Mine died with extreme age.
Tranny, center dif, rear dif, half shafts.
Each one slowly deteriorated with age.

I now have no second gear, but she keeps on going!

Pretty clean looking, I picked up an 01 recently with the 4.0. I couldn't buy a jeep with AWD though as for when I go camping I like finding the off the path tails to go camp down and AWD is not the same as front and rear locking differentials 4x4.

Still a super clean truck for its year. How much you give for it?

I think those are like 4200lbs, not near 5000, and they do kick ***! I've driven one with the 5.2 and that was a ton of fun.

Holy orange peel Batman!

I've always preferred the regular Cherokees, but that one is definitely cool.

I'm thinking of buying one very soon. And after a lotta searching I can see you can find really clean ones of under 100k millage for less than $4to5K

Anyone know if the 1999-2004 body styles are as reliable as 1998 and below? Cause I hear those go 200k+ all the time, the tranny is the weak spots(at VERY high milleages)

I have an 01 with the 4.slow in it. Put like 2500 miles on it, currently at like 154. Trans fluid may need to be changed soon but otherwise for 4k I can't complain.

Did you mean the NV4500? The 360 would kill a NV2500 in no time at all.

or a 4500 lol I have a nv2500 in my 318 94 ram. 208k miles and going strong. I know the nv4500s are beasts of a transmission.

That's the NV3500 you have, same as my 4.7 Dakota has, and they are not very strong haha. I wouldn't trust it behind a 360 that was anything other than stock. Even then the torque would be pushing it.

Beautiful Jeep, OP. I've always liked the V8 ZJs. I had a 91 4.0 Cherokee a few years back. Everything was fine and dandy until it got shot up.

One of those bolt-ons was boost or a bottle, or the entire body was removed for weight reduction

Nice GC...those 5.9 Limiteds are pretty rare. A while back I had a 5.2 '94 GC for a winter beater for a few years and it was pretty damn fun to drive...the AWD was great in the snow and made light to light holeshots in the rain fun, lol.

I love those GC's. I almost bought a 2dr Black, 2" Lift and some AR wheels.. It was awesome looking. Some sneak bought it out from underneath me for 100$ more.. I had a deposit on it and everything. I got it all back, so whatever. I ended up buying my GN a month later, so I guess it wasn't all bad .
