Small dig run and tow haul mod demonstration in my Fbody
Just your typical dig run with an early unwanted shift at 5k for the 1-2 shift.
the other clip shows my towhaul mod.. one button press downshift to whatever the computer thinks the best gear for that roll is.
car is torn apart for now, gonna mill the 243's and do some other stuff

I used to be in the LS truck scene for a while, and you know how on trucks they had the tow haul shift tables? and the towhaul button on the shifter? Well that same trans table in the PCM is also known as "performance" mode. You can change the way its enabled.. normally Fbody Pcm's have it set to "No switch" while trucks have it set to "class 2" because the tow haul switch runs through the body control module on the trucks. However, there is another option "One switch" which basically lets you wire a "normally open momentary ground switch" to pin 71 on the blue 0411 connector... enabling "tow haul" or performance mode.. from there you make changes to what you want the trans to do while "tow haul" is on in the tune otherwise it won't do anything when you hit the switch. A lot of the truck guys down here make it to where It will downshift for rolls.. and to make it do that you just change the "part throttle" table under "performance" in the Trans Section for HP tuners.. it can be done with efi live as well i think...
It really lets me get the jump on people from rolls.. it doesn't have that downshift delay so it's instant as soon as the PCM see's 100% on the tps

Very interesting. I have efi live and knew the tables were there, just didn't know how to activate them.
Might have to get adventurous and do this, seems it would be a little better than manually downshifting and holding so that the car doesn't hit the limiter on the shifts.

I actually did this a couple years ago on my 01 ws6 after driving a friends h\c 5.3silverado. He had it tuned the same way. Cruising at 60 just hit the tow haul button and it automatically dropped to 2nd gear and stall the truck(atleast thats what it felt like) without touching anything. Then just mash the pedal and go. After i drove the truck i did the same as mentioned above. worked great!

My thread, so I can pretty much bump it whenever I want. Racing this way or that way doesn't make me any less of a man. My car will still **** people up from digs.
So if you're not going to offer anything to the kind folks here on tech, then kindly **** off
If anyone wants a walk through on how to do this through HP Tuners, PM me. Just keep in mind you'll need your part throttle and full throttle speed tables dead nuts accurate.

Tough words to swallow, especially when you're the one who's been racing the same long bed 2500HD truck for years. You must be a racing expert
