I agree with you, but laying off employees is something totally different
that what GM is facing. The entire automotive industry is struggling big
time. Trust me, I work for a major supplier to the OEM's.

very true unit213 & First Quarter of '05 when GM Reports $1.1 Billion Loss dammit so laying off employees wasn't an option in that critical case !!

I don't want to get it alil off topic but the question is "Can GM survive losing billions in sales and in the Stock Market" ?!!

Well, technically ford is doing a LOT better (1 billion PROFIT for Ford vs 1 billion LOSS for GM). However, I wasn't trying to make that as a bad comment. I was just stating that I don't even care about the Z06 lasting, I just hope that GM is still around to make high performance cars(in regaurds to someone stating that the Z06 is only supposed to be around a couple of years).

Nope...Cobras (coupes) are roughly 3,650lbs stock and the Z06 is about
3,150lbs which is still a big difference. I believe GM quotes 3,147lbs for the
Z06.

I really wish i could find the quote, but after looking on google, i was unsuccessful. It may have been in motortrend, it was when the shelby gt500 was just hitting mags. and solid Z06 performance specs weren't out yet. The end said something to the effect of Ford going after the new Z06 and Viper with the Shelby GT500. What probably happened is Ford saw the Z06 take care of their prized GT and then said well there goes that.

Yep...just verified that on chevrolet.com. The Motortrend I was reading
today claimed 3,147lbs. That's where I got the number.

LS1s weren't "built" for boost, either. But they seem to handle it OK. I'd sure hate to tangle with a FI C6 Z06. But I am not afraid to run a modified Cobra.

Sales alone are not killing GM...they have to pay massive ammounts out of their profit to pension plans also...so every time you buy a GM car I "heard" that something like $1000 goes to pay pensions for people who don't even work there...lets just agree that although Corvette is a GM product it is not entirely indicative of GM cars and that Fords sales and profit have less to do with the Mustang than they do with the F150...it is pointless to compare Mustangs and the Z06...apples and oranges!
