Dude look in my sig I have 1 of each. The LS1 isnt just better because of more power from the factory. No dumbass Optispark, easier plug access etc. I love my LT1 Z because of the looks and the sound not to mention i like the interior a little better also. But if i would get rid of it i would love to have 2 LS1 cars Can everyone please get back to the point of this thread.

Who's car did that end up being?

Props to Ben for building an LT1 so quick, it's obviously not easy with an LT1. GM was not nice in designing them.

As far as the LS1 vs. LT1 debate, N/A LS1's are in the just breaking into the 8's, N/A LT1's are just breaking into the 9's. End of debate.

What hole have you be living in Joe O and Steve Quinn broke in the nines
3 or 4 years ago N/A. The eights for LS-1s based motors hasent even happened yet the only 8 sec LS based motor had W2W motor with non production C-5r heads and a sheet metal intake. The fastest N/A combo known is Matt346ls1 9.20s with a production based motor and LS6 heads Liberty trans.

I agree. This comprasion is pointless. Newer Motor > older motor usually.

That is one bad *** car, I love it.

But if you want to see what a traditional small block chevy can do, just watch a nascar race...they all have basically a 358 SBC. Or go look at some drag cars with some small blocks in them.

This brings a question and I know its off topic, but could you fit a 400 Small Block in a 4th gen, would everything work?

Great article and very well put together combination. My hats off to you.

BTW, for everyone else in the debate...

It makes no difference how new or old the motor is. With all other things being equal, the motor that has the better heads makes more power and is faster. period.

take a set of NEXTEL cup heads and put them on a 1970's 350, an LT1 and an LS1 (assuming you could) and they will all make the same power.

Congrats ben which was the point of the post..... Forget about the LT1/LS1 argument..... We LT1 guys will never be fast. Big Rick's 8.0 was an optical ****** illusion..... And Joe Overton's low 9's NA with only 385 cubes is only because David Blaine is riding shotgun with him and everyone at the track is ******* hypnotized. He's actually running 14's.....

Besides now that the LS7 is out, realistically the LS1, just like the LT1 is another engines "bitch".......

Why do people BASH LT1 cars....lets do the math.

Clean 93/94 F body $4500(probably will have some bolt ons already)

LE or Ai head cam package $2500

Supporting bolt ons $2500

For the price of your STOCK 98 model LS1 I am running 11's on MOTOR.

The look on your face when I spank that *** in my lowly Lt1 car $PRICELESS$

Why do people continually bring up this lame arguement. You could be
running low 9's in a fox 'stang for the price you paid for the LT1 so big deal.

Low 9's for $4500, or even if you mis printed and MEANT LS1....elaborate on how you run low 9's on $9500

The price IS the object..99% of us are not independently wealthy...so money Vs horsepower is ALWAYS the argument.
