Picked up the D50 this morning and must say it was well worth the money. the weather is shitty so i cant go get pics of the car so I took some others. here are the good ones so far. Cant wait to start messing with the manual settings on this bad boy. Anyone got any tips?

Be sure and white balance. That makes a world of differance especially if you really want to show off the color of the car. I use a D70 on occasion, and I think they have a lot of similarities. There should be a setting for a vivid tone, you may want to check it out. It looks crap with humans and skin tones, but again it will make a huge difference on color of car. And even if the weather is bad try it anyways. A really cloudy day is great for car shots. The cloud cover is like using a giant softbox.

If you shoot in RAW (NEF) white balance is not as important, as it can be adjusted a bit in post production. A tripod is probably the best accessory you could get, though I also like my polarizer. Play around. Take a lot of pictures, and you'll get a good feel for the techniques that work best for you. Here's a few pics I took recently with my D70s 18-200 VR.

bad95, those are some nioce pics man. And the 350Ds rock
Like everyone has said, just shoot and shoot and shoot. Then you'll find your own style. I would also recommend shooting RAW and start shooting in manual mode, just to get a feel of things.

I like it alot. It's very versatile. Here's some from the same spot at 18mm and 200mm - not the best pics, but they demonstrate the zoom pretty well. There's also a tulip that turned out pretty well.
18mm
200mm
By the way, thanks for the complements everyone .

2002BlackSS was right a Polarizing filter can make a world of differance. One thing you may keep in mind once you start using manual settings is that the faster the shutter speed the bluer and richer your skies will look. The same shot at 1/125 looks crap compared to say 1/2500. What I like about my D70 (not sure about the D50) but if you are using a flash it will sync up at 1/5000 which makes for some slick outdoor colors. I also recomend RAW mode, but watch it, it kind of depends on the application. Those RAW files can start to get large and take up a lot of space on your drive.
