I'm 6'7 about 240lbs these days. It's not the most comfortable car in
the world. It's ok though. The Cobeau seats I'm getting have a smaller
base and will lower the seating position. That'll free up some more room
for me as well as shave some weight.

Yes, it's faster with just the KB than it was with a ported Eaton & spray.

I'm in the Detroit area. How do you know you'd beat me? I've beaten
my share of turbo LS1's. My guess is that you're not even trapping
130mph with a 67 on a stock motor...probably around 125mph...just
a guess.

It sure doesn't take long to get to 7K rpm that's for sure. The 3.90 gear
helps I would imagine.

Thanks for the compliment. Gotta get some more fuel mods done before
spraying again. I'm in no hurry since I can't run at the track anymore...one
pass and I'm booted. I'll be sure to post a vid of it when the time comes.

I'm picking up two of these bad boys very soon. The slim seat base
will allow me to sit lower. That'll provide more head room and I'll
finally be able to tilt the steering wheel all the way down. Right now,
my left leg gets pinched between the steering wheel and the door
panel if I tilt it down too much. That sucks too...trust me.
I'm looking forward to the new seats.

Fricken sweet, I think you should go turbo though.

The guy that just rebuilt my T56 had an 03 at the shop with twins. Put down a measely 850.

I've been fighting with myself for a while now regarding the turbo thing.
I'm not sure what I want to do with this car. I've contemplated selling
it many many times. I'd hate to dump the money into it for a turbo kit
then sell it. Also, the car is getting pretty close to being a racecar
and that's something I don't want. A turbo kit will just make it that much
worse, but better . We'll see how it turns out. I'm on the fence.
I also have some big financial things coming up within a year so timing
isn't all that great right now.

Correction from above...

I'm getting the seats pictured below. They are slightly different (better)
than the model I posted above. They're 3lbs lighter as well. Every pound
helps with this pig.

I haven't had it scaled in a while. A good estimate is 3,500lbs (no driver).
I'm going to do a tubular K member this summer. I should have it down
to 3,400lbs while keeping the full interior intact. That's still heavy, but
a few hundred pounds is a lot to shave off.

I think that would be a little too ambitious. It is possible though with
enough nitrous. The drivetrain can handle it. I have zero safety mods,
such as a cage so I'll never push it that hard.

I broke a halfshaft at the track. Upgrading them is about $1,500. I figured
why spend $1500 on a heavy, poorly designed IRS when I can spend a
few more thousand and have a bullet proof, race proven rear end.
A local racer runs 9's @ 145mph with the same rear end I use basically.

I'm 240lbs. My buddy has them those seat and they were pretty comfortable.
Come to think of it, they were snug though. Corbeau makes them in a "wide"
version. You have me second guessing myself now. I wonder if I should get
the wide seat.

edit: You're probably right. I changed my order to a wide seat.

Top end? Nothing crazy. That's really not my thing. I like the acceleration
more than the big top end mph. My speedometer only goes to 160mph so
I can't really tell you.

Awesome choice/seats! I would have done that down the road had I kept the car.

I had exactly the same problem...had to be so far back, hard to reach the shifter correctly, head in the ceiling, steering wheel too high and still jambed in my legs with the right leg getting pinched lol.

Yeah...it clearly isn't the best designed cockpit in the world, but what
do you really expect out of a Mustang. It delivers what it's supposed
to.
