You can say anything about a pre-production all you want. HINT the "PRE" kinda kills it. No one has tested a "production" Shelby off the production line yet. Those Pre-production cars have been put through hell in back and anyones that knows how they treat these cars will agree. Im pretty sure with the strict new SAE standards, if they say its 500hp then it is. The comment of look how much more of a car you can get ....... A car with 500hp designed by caroll shelby himself .........So tell me, how much more of a car is a C6

the older Z06s are into the 11.7s stock, its only a matter of time before the C6 does it as well. As for the GT500, I sort of chuckled that they used the a-pillar gauge pod and it looked like a red shift light above the shifter.

To the best of my knowledge, no C6 has done that yet.

Evan Smith always manages to cut times that no one else can duplicate, so using him as an example is stretching things a bit. The average gt500 driver wont come close to 12.20s IMHO. He ran something like 12.8s-12.9s in a bonestock ls1 fbod. He can drive his *** off.

He also dynoed at 450whp with a catback exhaust and the car isnt even broke in yet.

how isnt it comparable... its absolutly comparable

both are absolutly the same class: ie
ford gt --> z06
gt 500 --> c6 BOTH ARE $50k CARS
must gt --> gto

the gt 500 is suposed to be fords "affordable" road racer

if you are going to compare it to the c6 then you might as well compare everything

and while were on that topic the gt500 interior sucks

so, let me get this straight...i can go buy a ls1 auto. cam it, stall it, gear it, throw on some bolt ons and walk all over a GT500 for under half the price. and still look better? sounds good to me.

Wow the Corvette is a 2 door 2 seat sports car with IRS while the GT500 is a car that you can fit 4 people in and go and get ice cream. Just because they cost the same doesn’t make it comparable. Thats like saying a L38 fighter jet is comparable to a lambo murci roadster sure they may cost similar amounts but the L38 is faster, handles better, and has a greater thrill factor they must be similar because the cost similar yeah right. Also a GT500 that wasn’t even broke in with flowmaster cat back exhaust dynoed at about the average as a Z06 what does that tell ya? Ford has a history of underrating there cars look at the cobras they were rated at 390 some dynoed that much at the rear wheels.

well the difference is

1) my TRANS AM cost me <17k
2) my trans am was made 6 years ago
3) NEW my trans am cost 20k less than the gt 500 new
4) why the hell would i be jelouse? if i wanted a ******* mustang id be on a mustang board
5) who cares if the mustang has back seats, its the only thing ford has in that price range to compete with the vette
6)the jet fighter thing was stupid
7) as to the gt 500 dynoing almost as much as the z06... who the hell cares the z06 runs a full second faster than the gt... how many people buy a car for it to be a dyno queen
