Actually, your aperture was quite the opposite of wide open.

I went the middle ground approach with a 6MP Canon S3 iS. A sort of smaller DSLR in style with some great features like the swivelling screen and 12X optical zoom. It has now been replaceed by the S5 iS which has 8MP. Just do some research and try a few out before you decide. If you dont like it you can always sell it and get something else.

Couple of good review sites.

Yep, sure were. The birds in the water were about 25-30ftaway and the close up of the duck was from about 15ft. 12x optical zoom on this camera! For the racing cars I just set a slow shutter speed and panned.

just remember this: no matter what camera you get, make sure you familiarize yourself with photoshop

photography is 20% pictures, 80% editing (refer to post #5 of the Vette)...it's a simple rolling shot, but with some post processing (photoshop) you can turn any normal picture into a spectacular image

here are some of mine: Nikon D200...all the editing i do is brightness/contrast, and sharpen mask...some people know their way around photoshop so well that their pictures look like a magazine ad...

A few of my better shots... still learning... Great shots posted here everyone!

All photos taken with my Nikon D80 w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens w/ UV filter.

I still have room for plenty of improvement... need to start post processing...

these are all excellent shots, but for those of you who are not familiar with photography, post processing and/or photoshop, these images have been edited quite a bit...please do not think you will get images like this by just taking a picture and uploading it off of the camera...

Amazing photos, but knowing those came from a Rebel XT has made up my mind on what camera I will be getting next.

Had a Nikon D1x with a ton of lenses, then a Canon 20D and now a Rebel Xti. Wish I'd known the 40D was coming out but at the PMA show Canon denied it.

Anyway here's a few . I have tons and tons of pics you can see here:
