My grandma asked me if I could turn a black and white picture of her and my mom into color. I told her I would.

But my older brother who attends the University of Texas at Austin swears that it CANT be done. He told me if it CAN be done, HELL GIVE ME HIS XBOX. But he said if it CANT be done, I would have to give him my Big SN TV. I told him the deal is on...

So is it possible? The picture is in less than Fair condition, Wallet Size, Black and Peachish,(Whiteish).

Even a color replica counts. Also, WHERE CAN IT BE DONE

Back in the old days they used to paint on colors onto B&W photos. You could scan it and Photoshop it.

Send me the pic and I will mess around with it in photoshop. In my class that I took for photoshop, we spent a few hours turning black and white into color. Send the pic to WOTWS6@aol.com and I will mess around with it.

Yes, it can be done. Same process that Turner Entertainment used to colorize some old black & white movie classics. I'm not sure how to do it, but, yes, it can be done.

You can colorize it, but colors will be subjective. It will esentially be "painting" it, though done digitally. This doesn't mean it will look bad though.

Essentially information has been lost and there is no way to pull it out and be faithful. You can use your judgement and common sense though and get something good looking out.

Hmmm...Im going to try to send a photo to DoOdfromcali, maybe he can do it. But is there a place where I can send the picture and they make a big frame out of it in color??

ya I can colorize it, but it wont be the original colors from when the picture was taken. If you tell me what color you want things, I can do it. Like hair color, clothes color...but I can't bring back any original color.

Also I forgot to mention...

Going from small to big doesn't work out very well. The image gets very "blocky". You will be able to see little sqaures. I will see how big I can get it before it starts to look crappy but I highly doubt you can make a big frame out of it. Wallet size to big frame size probably wont look good. BUt send it over and I will see what I can do.

I would not turn that original photo loose. Hang onto it. Go to walmart and have them scan it to disk....

while you are at walmart go to the KPM (kodak picture processing) machine and you can blow up the picture from wallet to 8X11.they also have a color restoration that might work. (i work as a photo tech and have done mild restoration before. ) If that doesnt work i am sure they have facilities that can do it for you. for the right price of course. pm me if you need any help

ya with all of us stepping in, your sure to get that xbox. How about whoever's picture you use, you send them a xbox game or a ps2 game in my case. Haha.
